Democratic Caucus Chair Xavier Becerra advised undocumented immigrants who may qualify for executive action to look past the ongoing debate in Congress and do one thing: "Prepárense" (Get Ready).
The Congress is at loggerheads over President Barack Obama's executive action and that is holding up renewed funding of the very agency whose workers will accept and process applications for those wanting protection from deportation. That agency's funding runs out Feb. 27. But ignore the Washington noise, said Becerra, D-Calif., and other Congressional Hispanic Caucus members, and get ready.
Lawmakers advised immigrants to get their documentation together and find out what it takes to be eligible for the expanded Deferrred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, and for Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Residents, DAPA.
The two programs, made possible through executive action, shield certain immigrants here illegally from deportation for three years and allows them to work or study.

Protecting Fraudulently Documented Foreigners from federal law? How upside down is the world when the guy charged with enforcing the laws is doing everything he can to thwart them?
My republican representative who was just reelected to office to represent Colorado is another turncoat. If we can’t depend on the republican reps, not like we ever could, then there is nothing left to defend the constitutional laws of this country, except for the Tea Party.
What do we need to do to start pushing back against those who are opposed to suppressing freedom, liberty and our Christian beliefs? Does the South need to rise again?
It’s because we love freedom and are Christians that we don’t push back. We believe in loving our fellow man and obey our leaders and the law. Evil has been allowed to take over. There was a time when evil was not accepted by Christians. Everyone in the community was expected to be Christian. Nothing is going to happen because we are not criminals.
So we will obediently walk right into the gas chambers. But there will be a remnant who will go rogue and start the underground and fight back. Probably too late then. Let’s say I’m not in the least optimistic.
I’m wondering if I’m even an American anymore...
