Men catch kids dropped from burning building, saving them [Brooklyn: Urban heroes]

Two men saved a little boy and his teen sister from a Brooklyn blaze on Monday, scaling scaffolding at a burning apartment building and catching the children as they were dropped from a window by their mother.

Davon Flunory, 20, and his friend Kevin Ravenell, 27, leaped into action after spotting Cipriani Lundy and her kids, 4-year-old Julian and 15-year-old Imani, screaming for help in the window of their smoke-filled third-floor apartment in the Eleanor Roosevelt Houses in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

“My first instinct is to call the Fire Department,” recalled Flunory, who was visiting a relative in the building when the blaze broke out on the fourth floor at around noon.

“They were taking too long, so we went out and around the building to the scaffolding, and we saw the little boy and his family waving in the window.

“We took it upon ourselves to go up there and try to help her grab the kid out,” Flunory said.

Lundy safely dropped both Julian and Imani down to the two men — but was critically injured herself after she leaped out of the window.

She was taken to Kings County Hospital in traumatic arrest and treated for life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

She was listed in critical condition.

Wtf is this supposed to mean? I don't need news stories to provide my understanding of black culture; i've spent nearly my whole life as a resident of Wash DC & ATL GA. Hell, i'm blacker than indo-Hawaiian Barry o'bastard. I know i've eaten more chitlins.

but thanks for your condescending attempt to heal the racial divide, lol.

Yeah, Ted bundy was charming and intelligent. He only murdered a tiny fraction of people he met. Goodness is not a ratio.

There are good people in every race. We know that..

The 'amish' comments are more a slam on the press than on black people. The press makes a point of NOT telling the race of criminals WHEN THEY'RE black...

It became a joke here when the code was broken...

Want to know the race of a criminal in a posted story? You know the answer WHEN there's no mention of race. No mentioned equals 'black'. Same code with corrupt democrat pols who were arrested or shamed ... When the perp's democrat the political designation is buried in the story or not mentioned.. When the perp's Republican it's mentioned in the headline or first paragraph.

Bias.

With terror attacks like Boston - if there's anyway to imply the person is 'white' or Christian it's implied... early. And usually the 'first guess' of the press is a terror suspect 'might' be a right winger.

The press is hateful - think 'New York Times'....

Can you imagine the outrage if the press always jumped to the conclusion that a terror suspect was gay - well, until the truth came out? That's what conservatives live with. If the terrorists are Muslim you've got to work to find the truth. The press covers for Muslims. So do democrats and Obama. It's a mistake.

The stuff comes from the 'Brian Williams Style-book For Dishonest Journalists'...

Problems can't be solved when white liberal elites are doing their best to pretend reality doesn't exist. Also it's demeaning to the people they think they're protecting.

Also when a major paper has a feel good story about local heroes there’s a good chance they’re black - and a picture will be run with the story.

They’re probably black, based on the names.

I’m pleased to see young (presumably) urban black men in the news for heroism rather than thuggery. We need a lot more men like Davon Flunory and Kevin Ravenell.

I predict that Fat Al Sharpton will ignore them.

Lol, “good?” What would you envision them doing, otherwise? Refusing to catch the baby, catching the baby then spiking it like a football? Eating the baby? Ffs, this is 3rd world “heroism.”

"Did someone here report a fire?"

No, the word was "far." I said they came from afar. Honest mistake. :)
