LETTER: Stop listening to the misinformed on global warming
The Sanford Herald ^ | Feb. 21, 2015 | Pete Kuntz Northglenn, Colorado

Posted on 02/21/2015 6:05:34 PM PST by E. Pluribus Unum

To the Editor:

Yet another climate denier letter displaying a scientific illiteracy that is a sad indictment of our educational system: "Humans didn't cause global warming" in the Feb 11 edition of The Sanford Herald. All you have to do is Google "Scientific American global warming" to find out that global warming is an undisputed scientific fact.

Climate scientists know all about previous periods of climate change, that's basic high school science class stuff. They were all caused by something. Scientists call that something a "forcing." They have established that this time the forcing is not any of the previous causes of climate change. It's been proven to be caused by our burning massive amounts of fossil fuels. See the award-winning Skeptical Science website for peer-reviewed climate science data on this.

Why do so many people disbelieve every scientific body in the world and every climate scientist publishing in peer-reviewed science journals (where real scientists show their work and express their ideas)? It's because the fossil fuel industry is fighting for its life and it's fighting dirty, secretly spending millions to spread lies and pseudoscience is right-wing media. (Scientific American, "Dark Money.") They've modeled their denial campaign directly on big tobacco's old denial that smoking causes lung cancer, fake "scientists" and all. (From The De Smog Blog, chosen as one of TIME's 25 best blogs of 2011).

Let's stop listening and (and printing letters from) the misinformed (we see where spreading pseudoscience leads, as measles spreads across our country) and look at solutions to global warming. The main one is to phase out the use of fossil fuels, and that can be very good for our economy, whatever you think of global warming. Most major economists agree, including eight Nobel Prize winners.

Watch "Climate Solutions Citizens Climate Lobby" and "Decarbonization Takes The Fast Lane" on YouTube and see the nonprofit, grassroots Citizens Climate Lobby website for more information.

Something like that would once be openly hooted at, but the bastards are now wearing (many of) us down.

Pollutants my friend...stop fabricating that the whole of the argument rests on C02 when it does not especially since I did not make that claim. Besides where id I make such a claim? To say so speaks directly to what I say about those using half-truths to make their points. So if you want to get smug and pontificate about data then you prove without shadow of doubt to us. However, understand this, the science does NOT all agree, the science is NOT AT ALL “Settled” the “Science” as promulgated by the socialist left, is more and more revealing itself to be contrived than it ever was honest. I have spent over 20 years flying to the arctic and the Antarctic not only making my own eyes-on observations but talking with and listening to the various research scientists as they work their various disciplines and while some of them DO believe in man-made global warming some most assuredly do not. Again, evidence to “suggest” is NOT evidence of fact by a long shot.

Whatever school this guy went to should be shut down after it is bankrupted by the malpractice suit.

Too bad he was absent the day they did logical fallacies. Come to think of it, my kids haven’t studied logical fallacies either.

I wonder why not?

Why do so many people disbelieve every scientific body in the world and every climate scientist...

We don't believe crazy warmists because we think they're lying.

We didn't believe 'peak oil' or the Club or Rome, or the Population Bomb, or the end of all natural resources by 2000. And we didn't believe the stuff Scientific American put out in the late 70's and early 80's about major parts of the United States being underwater by 2010...

The common folks are being distracted by what's going on. The left hand is telling us for example:

Noel Brown, UN senior environment official says entire nations could be wiped off the face of the earth by rising sea levels if global warming is not reversed by 2000. But in 2007, Chief of the UN’s IPCC – “If there’s no action before 2012, that’s too late;” and 2009, James Hansen, past head of NASA’s Goddard Institute of Space Studies – President Obama has only four years to save the Earth.

These clowns' justification:

Paul Watson, a founder of Greenpeace
"It doesn't matter what is true, it only matters what people believe is true."

Jim Sibbison, environmental journalist, former public relations official for the EPA
"We routinely wrote scare stories...Our press reports were more or less true...We were out to whip the public into a frenzy
about the environment."

Stephen Schneider, Stanford Univ., environmentalist
"That, of course, entails getting loads of media coverage. So we have to offer up scary scenarios, make simplified, dramatic
statements, and make little mention of any doubts we might have."

Richard Benedik, former U.S./UN bureaucrat
"A global climate treaty must be implemented even if there is no scientific evidence to back the greenhouse effect."

In the meantime as we all know, this is what the right hand is really doing: one-world government, wealth redistribution, and destroy capitalism:

Club of Rome
"In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water
shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill....All these dangers are caused by human intervention....and thus the “real
enemy, then, is humanity itself....believe humanity requires a common motivation, namely a common adversary in order to
realize world government. It does not matter if this common enemy is “a real one or….one invented for the purpose.""

Christiana Figueres, executive secretary of the UN's Framework Convention on Climate Change, February 2015
"This is the first time in the history of mankind that we are setting ourselves the task of intentionally, within a defined period of time, to change the economic development model that has been reigning for at least 150 years, since the Industrial Revolution.

Timoth Wirth, U.S./UN functionary, former elected Democrat Senator
“We’ve got to ride the global-warming issue. Even if the theory of global warming is wrong, we will be doing the right thing
in terms of economic policy and environmental policy.”

Ottmar Edenhoffer, high level UN-IPCC official
"We redistribute de facto the world's wealth by climate policy…Basically it's a big mistake to discuss climate policy
separately from the major themes of globalization...One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate
policy is environmental policy. This has almost nothing to do with environmental policy anymore."

Christine Stewart, former Canadian Minister of the Enviroment
"No matter if the science of global warming is all phony...climate change provides the greatest opportunity to bring about
justice and equality in the world."

Richard Benedik, former U.S./UN bureaucrat
"A global climate treaty must be implemented even if there is no scientific evidence to back the greenhouse effect."
