Comrades for Net Neutrality

The powers behind the FCC’s muscling of the Internet Today’s vote by a bitterly divided Federal Communications Commission that the Internet should be regulated as a public utility is the culmination of a decade-long battle by the Left. Using money from George Soros and liberal foundations that totaled at least $196 million, radical activists finally succeeded in ramming through “net neutrality,” or the idea that all data should be transmitted equally over the Internet. The final push involved unprecedented political pressure exerted by the Obama White House on FCC chairman Tom Wheeler, head of an ostensibly independent regulatory body.

“Net neutrality’s goal is to empower the federal government to ration and apportion Internet bandwidth as it sees fit, and to thereby control the Internet’s content,”

If you break it down the left used Alinsky tactics to demonize Comcast, Verizon and other ISPs to seize control of the internet. Now we'll have to wait and see what the devil in the details of the so-called Net Neutrality fiasco.

The sad part of it is that too many dumbasses fell for it.

Whoever Ø names to replace Rosenworcel (D) will also have a (D) after their name.

It is my dream that Patriot is elected in 2016 and that the day after the election Congress introduces articles of impeachment against this dictatorial POS.

” You might also ask where the Bush family, McCain, McConnell, Graham, Rove, and other GOPe members stand on the issue. Are they screaming about another nail in the coffin of freedom? If not, they are complicit and just as bad.”

No, just as EVIL.

I just noticed that a 15 year Freeper who insisted that Net Neutrality was a good idea because it meant his ISP would be required to give him better Netflix speeds was zotted yesterday into outer darkness

That's the main purpose of net "neutrality". For starters, Netflix is 99% drivel. There is some good material and a tiny amount of good new material, but if you want those, it doesn't need to be streamed in HD. Secondly, Netflix and youtube already use up a majority of the bandwidth, net "neutrality" will make it worse. By using up the bandwidth there is less bandwidth for useful purposes. Videos do not need to be streamed, but most of the useless drivel is streamed.

My own case is not too unusual out in a rural area. You can get satellite, cable if you are lucky, DSL sometimes, dialup, WISP and 3G. I have done all of those, but now I am in an out-of-luck area so my main choice is 3G. If someone, just one user, goes on 3G closer to the tower doing streaming HD video, I get nothing. Zero throughput mainly, with an occasional couple of bytes. Useless anyway. Bring on the FCC and they will require my ISP to allow the bandwidth hogging content and probably also require them to upgrade the towers at great expense. There are not a lot of users to amortize the cost across.

Of course the FCC won't do that right away since they would look stupid. But the time is coming when the internet will be run by Netflix. Everything else will be second class, and that is simply because of bandwidth hogging streaming video.

But they’re going to “break the monopolies” and place them under the sole monolithic control of government. LOL

I see a lot of the gamers on the liberal side are all excited about the faster speeds they think they’ll be getting. I hope they like playing their online games 3 seconds at a time.

Try telling obama and those 3 unelected bureaucrats that. Better yet, try telling all the internet companies that, who will no doubt meekly obey this non-law that the fcc had no right to approve of, much less enforce.

Under the progressive window dressing is more crony capitalism that benefits the favored internet service providers and will line their pockets.

FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler is a former K Street Man, a top lobbyist for cable television and cellular phone industry associations.

The propaganda that paints this and Obamacare as communism leaves out the truth that its communism that favors crony capitalists....

That's always true when there is regulation. But don't stop at the service providers many of whom are doing the best they can with limited infrastructure funds. The biggest crony benefitting from this is Netflix. Also your claim that this is not communism is probably going to turn out false. Do you not think that Obamaphone is anything other than communism? This could easily turn into that.

Nigel Farage of UKIP used the expression ‘corporatism’ about how big business, big banks and big government come into alignment against the interests of smaller business and individuals.

The Republicans make conservative speeches and noise spreading fear about the Democrats.

The Democrats make liberal progressive speeches and noise spreading fear about the Republicans.

In the end we get policies favoring elite special interests because the elites buy the politicians with their money.

We have two parties with little or no difference between them.

The Obamaphones are made by somebody and aren’t the phone makers profiting courtesy of the taxpayers...

Years ago I spoke with a young communist who had two issues: the first was ‘earth elementals’ - basically magnets - natural resources coming out of Africa. Suppositly the United States was being exploitative.

The other issue was ‘net neutrality’. He explained both in Marxists terms - I wasn't paying a lot of attention because Marxists are boring to me. But I walked away with the strong feeling that giving up control of ‘the net’ would benefit Communists and hurt the United States.

The democrat version of democracy means 3 unelected bureaucrats voting for something that none of us are allowed to see.

Typical Communist thinking Cripple.

A Central Committee.

This power grab by the Feral Government is nothing but using Net Neutrality as a false flag to take control of another part of the economy (for ultimately controlling speech and future taxation). They do not care about ‘fair’ consumption of bits and bytes. In fact all you need to do is compare another government controlled utility to see where this is going. In about a year or so, they will be proposing multi-tier pricing schemes for bandwidth just the same way that they have multi-tier pricing for electricity today (i.e. higher rates charged during peak usage times). Just another lie from the Marxist Obama administration.

Democrats/socialists/Marxist/Fascists are experts at packing evil in nicely-labeled packages.

There is nothing “neutral” about “Net Neutrality.” Again, conservatives are failing in the name-game. They need to rename it in the media aggressively so it sticks.

The proper name for it is: “Net CONTROL!”

The government fascists want to CONTROL something that is prospering and working fine. There is no need to add another layer of bureaucracy.

Another more correct name for it is: “Net BIAS!”

From now on, government will use FORCE to implement their BIAS as to how internet access works. The Government is FAR FROM NEUTRAL.

THERE IS NOTHING “NEUTRAL” ABOUT THIS SCAM, FOLKS!!

The Obamaphones are made by somebody and aren’t the phone makers profiting courtesy of the taxpayers...

Some phone carriers definitely profit from the taxpayer funded Obamaphone like the Tracphone guy who is also a big Obama donor. The neutrality issue is not that kind of communism or cronyism, but it will lead in that direction.
