Residents of Brattleboro, Vermont, will vote on a ballot item that would let 16- and 17-year-olds vote in local elections.
Vermonts current voting age is 18, and that wouldnt change for state and federal elections. The proposal by Brattleboro resident Kurt Daims would move the minimum age two years younger for town elections.

woo hoo, free pot and the parents can’t force them to do chores..
I’m sure the teacher unions are salivating
Vermont? Just do away with age requirements entirely. It’s a beautiful state, but......
They keep saying locally but my ballots often have other races with candidates other than local. (Congress, President, Governor, ballot intitiatives)
That’s stupid. There is not one good reason why these kids can’t wait 12-24 months to vote.
Wait. It's Vermont. Those kids probably already get all those things.
If you’re not a liberal at twenty you have no heart, if you’re not a conservative at forty you have no brain.

Yep, but two ballots would work, one for the youngsters and
one for the old folks.
Drinking & smoking age 18
Driving, military service and Voting, age 21
I was never a liberal thank God.
An advantage resulting from growing up in an isolated rural town. There just wasn’t much in the way of liberal influence.
Let me guess...Brattleboro resident Kurt Daims is probably a Democrat. Now let me take a peek - OOPS take a look:

And a day off from school to go vote. The day before, teachers can have them complete a sample ballot after being instructed to check the boxes for Democrats.
Or maybe school buses can take them directly to the polls with their Democrat checked sample ballot as a reference guide.
I mean, 16 and 17 year olds follow politics very closely, oh, wait...
After all, who need wisdom or experience anyway?
Bad idea, most 16 year old kids are uniformed imbeciles thinking with their raging hormones.
Hmm. I used to live there. Whenever the left starts losing its choke hold on Vermont or a local in Vermont they float the idea of letting thoroughly indoctrinated high school students vote. Something must have the local left worried..
Just what they need, more non-taxpayer voters...
