Israel itself has “mutual interests” with Muslims in the Middle East. A good recent example of that with Israel, is Egypt. Both Egypt and Israel had “mutual interests” to clamp down on Hamas, and they did work together,

Egypt and Israel also have “mutual interests” in keeping Islamic Terrorists out of the border region between Egypt and Israel.

AND ... there are “mutual interests” with other Arab nations for Israel to attack Iran and their nuclear facilities.

That’s how “mutual interests” work ... :-) ...

That’s great for Israel!
But we don’t live next door to millions of Muslims ... not yet anyway.

Why is this OUR problem. It seems to me that ISIS is a bigger threat to other Muslims. Maybe if they got off their asses and did something about it ...?

Oh wait ... they don’t have to do a damn thing because the USA will spend all the money in the universe and send our young people over there to die for them ... big heaping piles of USA bodies ... to save Muslims from other Muslims.

Lovely.

That’s because ISIS has more capability of directly attacking the USA than al Qaeda ever did have ... and we already know what al Qadea accomplished.

“This is nothing, you should have seen what was going on in the Crusades... Christians!, Christians!, Christians! /sarc”

So perhaps them joining those they had been fighting against will be like Prots and Catholics joining together to defeat our common enemy - militant islam. Some day. I hope.

That was an clear example of “how” mutual interests work ... and it’s the same for all nations.

You get involved where they are gong to affect our own national interests. Saddam Hussein’s interest there was to control an overwhelming amount of the world’s oil so that he could blackmail the West (that would be the USA).

It was in the national interests and security interests of the USA to kick Saddam Hussein out of Kuwait. However, he should have been left in better control over his own country to prevent the situation that has developed today.

That would ALSO be in our national interest.

The Saudis have blackmailed the West for years, but they do it with a smile.

Saddam Hussein’s is in an entirely different category ... :-) ...

You whack him over the head, let him control Iraq, and then he’s a friend of the USA again, and will also help the USA against Iran

We just removed the one power in that region who could really be an offset to Iran. Look at where that has gotten us now with Iran. AND ... look at where that’s gotten us with ISIS in Iraq!

That's conjecture. We know the Kuwaitis and the Saudi agents went full stop with the propaganda to get us into that war.

Now granted, if you go to war with someone, you damn well don't keep them in power, or else you can bet they will make trouble again. And sure enough, we had to go back in 10 years later.

I would have not only left in power, I would not have the no fly zones, and I would let him crush the Shias! Then I would be HELPING HIM attack Iran!

It’s too bad we didn’t do that!

The best thing was to do what Reagan did, let them bleed each other dry.

That may or may not be so.
Either way, we need to up our defense AT HOME and restrict immigration from certain parts of the world. We also keep a strong navy in the region. But there is no way in hell we should be giving arms or money or training (not to mention g-d “nation building” and “democracy”).

There is a lot we can do to counter terrorism on our own soil without going over there and giving Muslims billions of dollars and arms and training and everything else they ask for.

Obama is the biggest friend of Islamist in Egypt, Libya and Syria. ISIS wouldn’t have existed if he didn’t destroy governments in Syria and Libya and backing Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt
