The homeless man who was shot to death by Los Angeles police in a confrontation that was captured on dramatic cellphone video was a convicted bank robber living in the U.S. under a stolen French identity, authorities told NBC News on Tuesday night.

He was NOT a bank robber! He was just making undocumented withdrawals. They’re called Bank Dreamers. They do this as an act of love.

Another poorly written headline.
The artcle correctly notes that he was a convicted bank robber — 15 years ago. One would assume he had served his time. There was nothing in the article that he was wanted for a recent bak robbery.
A more correct headline would be “Man Killed by LA Cops Was a Felon Using Fake Name: Authorities”
But they were just harassing some poor homeless guy. Maybe he was that French chef from Ratatouille; “I killed a man with this thumb.” “I robbed the second largest bank in France using only a ball point pen.”

He was convicted of the bank robbery in 2000, while using his false name and documentation.
It's not clear how much time he spent in prison, if any time at all, because most of the case files are sealed, including the file that explains why the case files were sealed in the first place.
Too bad this guy acted up before the Obamalaw action points could be enacted. One of the recommendations is to limit police force or restraint when dealing with children, pregnant women, the elderly, or those who are not english speaking!
