Oh for heavens sake, DO lighten up.
You telling others to lighten up? You’re the most humorless person on FR - and that’s saying a lot.
Yes Dublin had a sizable Jewish population although this has all but disappeared now (I count a cousin among their numbers, a president of Israel came from there also). But the anti-semitism they experienced has been well documented there certainly weren’t any pogroms but if you want to get a flavour of the causal anti-semitism you can read it in Joyce’s “Ulysses”, if you can get through it, I know I never could.
There was a minor pogrom of Jews in Limerick stirred up by a Ctholic priest in 1904.
I should of course have included Scotland whose hospitality toward the Jews has always been noticeable.
I can’t speak about Wales as I have no idea. Northern Ireland has a tiny Jewish community and as far as I know has never suffered any persecution, which is odd given the amount of hatred the so-called Christians there have for each other.
Well, of course, I’ve read Ulysses - or attempted to.
Most overrated novel ever imo.
