Wisconsin police fatally shot an apparently unarmed African-American teenager on Friday, prompting dozens of people to protest at the site of the killing, according to police and videos published on social media.

Madison Police Chief Mike Koval told reporters that an officer responded to a disturbance at around 6:30 p.m. local time and later forced his way into an apartment that the 19-year-old, who was also suspected of a recent battery, had gone into.

Koval said that a struggle between the suspect and the officer ensued and the teen was fatally shot, according to a recording of the news conference published by broadcaster WKOW.

“The initial finding at the scene did not reflect a gun or anything of that nature that would have been used by the subject,” Koval said. …

Good observation - it’s mandatory to identify black “victims “ as black. Forbidden to identify black perps as black.

The opposite goes for whites.

Prompt work on your part. Looks like you have the right individual. I saw elsewhere that what prompted the police action, was that a man was jumping in and out moving traffic. He was said (I repeat only said) that he was hitting vehicles with his hands.

Another tragedy and it will be exploited for all it is worth. I know in Canada if such and incident occurred the police would have been all over it. Weapons at the ready.

Sad, no winners here. I pray it will all die down in due time.

I have a couple of friends on the force - confirmed, that’s him.. also, it appears the house he went into, was not just battery - was attempted murder of the resident...

Was choking a person in the house when the police arrived.

They will try, but this will likely not go Ferguson level -

Convicted armed robber - jumping in and out of traffic - choking someone at residence - attacks police - game over.. good night gentle giant...

Useful information.

I cannot wait to read the sworn statement by the unfortunate resident. Survived being choked probably to death.

“Unarmed” indeed!

The cop was obviously armed, and was engaged in combat with the perp.

That’s one of the dirty little secrets of having a gun on hand. If you and I are fighting, and one of us has a gun, more or less by definition somebody is going to get shot.

If you have control of the gun, you will feel, accurately, that you have little choice but to shoot me to prevent me from taking it away and shooting you. I, OTOH, feel, again accurately, that I have little choice but to get it away from you and use it on you before you can shoot me.

Note that this has little to do with who initiated violence or who was “in the right.” It’s the simple presence of the lethal weapon.

One of the unintended consequences of having a gun involved in a fight. An excellent reason, btw, not to get into fights. You never know when the other guy might be armed and a shoving match become a life and death struggle.

Assuming your info is correct, so much for mama’s “he’s never been violent”. Guess “violence” that excludes armed robbery (and who knows what else as a juvenile).

The crowd needs to protest how a 19 year-old convicted of armed robbery as an adult had already been turned loose on the public. If he had been in jail or prison as appropriate, he might be alive today. Sue his lawyer for wrongful death.

...Don’t they have search warrants to go into people’s homes unless there is violence occurring inside that home?

If the police are in "hot pursuit" of a fleeing felon, they can enter without a warrant and even search without a warrant.

They do not need to chase him into a particular apartment in order to be in "hot pursuit". If a witness tells them that he entered a certain door, that is good enough. The report of a battery might establish probable cause for a felony.

Police will shoot anyone who decides to struggle and fight with them, and especially if they try to go for their service weapon.

Just saying, if you think doing it is an acceptable action, don’t be surprised at the potential ending.

Maybe they ought to run stories on how come there are so many black teen thugs that believe fighting with police is an appropriate response.

Guaranteed this incident will be used to pummel Governor Walker.

It might have been crafted to do just that. There are kamikaze leftists out there.

Our local news (so horrid we rarely watch it) went on and on last night about the dead suspect. I swear it was about 10 minutes at the top of the news, they went on and on about the “teen” who was “unarmed”, they interviewed people who said he was great, etc, the usual.

Then way at the end of the story, they said he was convicted of armed robbery in the last year.

He was 19. We only know of his record since he turned 18. In that one year he committed armed robbery.

Does anyone think he had no previous juvenile record? Yet the news readers acted like the police just barged in to kill someone randomly.

It was the most skewed, biased libtard news rendering I have ever seen. They should be ashamed. They showed the protestors with their “black lives matter” signs, etc.

We wondered “where are Al and Jesse?”.

Madison news stations are the worst. Most of the time they bash Gov. Walker, but last night they bashed the police and lied about the dead suspect, eulogizing him instead. It was amazing in its liberal bias.

I don’t expect to be able to tune in the local news for about 6 months.

End of Rant

“snitches get stitches”

The interesting thing from my perspective - I live here. Williamson St. (locally known as Willy Street) is not a “thug hood” not even a predominately “black neighborhood” -

Populated mostly with Lesbians and communists - some really good bars and trendy restaurants.

doubtful the snitches get stitches mentality exists on Willy...
