The Star-Spangled Banner will once again wave at the University of California, Irvine, after student government leaders nixed a bid to ban the American flag from a campus lobby.

Members of the executive cabinet of the Associated Students of UC Irvine met Saturday in an emergency session to reverse the flag ban.

Perhaps these "educators" could not bear the outrage directed at them from across the country. The cockroaches started scurrying once the lights were turned on. It's also interesting to note that those who voted to actually ban the flag from this location to not offend others are not available for comment.

Those who are offended by our flag should get the hell out. Move to Cuba or Russia, etc.

Note Mr. Boehner and Mr. McConnell. When people stand up to leftists, they will back down.

“The cockroaches started scurrying once the lights were turned on.”

Spot on. Sunshine remains the best disinfectant.

Pathological altruism -

In many branches of psychology, altruism is situated among the highest of moral virtues. Moral psychologists highlight the personal and societal benefits of altruism (Colby & Damon, 1992), and those who study civic engagement offer guidelines for strengthening individuals’ propensity to engage in altruistic acts (Bowers et al., 2010). Clinical psychologists even classify altruism as one of the most mature defense mechanisms available to us (Vaillant, 1993).
The arguments put forth in Pathological Altruism challenge these notions of the good by offering insights into how and why individuals can become too self-sacrificing or can do harm to the very people who are expected to benefit from prosocial efforts. By showing the mix of good intentions with themes such as hording, self-righteousness, and addictions that are taken to extremes, authors provide readers with a strong understanding of how people alleviate their own personal distress by trying to help others. Specific chapters offer varied insights into how altruism affects self-care, relationships, and civic engagement. Taken as a whole, the book helps readers better imagine how they might participate in civil discourse.

Why Spoil the Fun of Good Intentions?

This book offers a well-balanced sense of how altruistic acts can cause harm to the self, to any intended target(s), and to society at large. Although not organized into these categories, Pathological Altruism highlights the problems that can emerge when personal, civic, and civil agendas are left unchallenged...

I agree with your sentiments wholeheartedly.

Unfortunately, our “representatives” are generally and predictably all too eager to appease these cretins in order to gain potential votes come election time.

The only flag in the lobby area was in front of the vice president of student affairs; this was entirely targeted at the one person. No ‘offical’ flags are in the lobby area.

Both the public and private universities have become a laughing stock. Who can have any respect for them?

These administrators are paid big bucks, yet they don’t have the common sense of a five year old. If the student government voted to give all the freshmen 50 lashes to please the religious tastes of their Muslim students, would that also pass? They bite the hands of taxpayers who pay their salaries. Because of “community organizers” and Islamic Students Association, their institutions have lost all standing and all credibility in the real world.

They’ve become threatening, dangerous places. Why would any parent be anything but sick in perhaps having no choice but to send their child there?

Where do they get this utter crap? What the hell does this mean? It is college claptrap. “...remove barriers that create undue effort....”

++++++++++++++++

Guevara said he wanted to make the university a more “culturally inclusive” place by banning Old Glory.

“Designing a culturally inclusive space aims to remove barriers that create undue effort and separation by planning and designing spaces that enable everyone to participate equally and confidentially,” read the resolution.

Yes, the damage is already done. We know them now, and their pattern of thinking. Same as the student club associated with Harvard, the group that wanted to conduct a full scale Satanic Mass on school grounds.

Don’t wanna fly the American flag at your university? Fine -you don’t have to. And just to help you out we won’t send any more dirty, filthy federal tax dollars to pollute your university either.
