BOSTON, MA – One of the more public divorces in Boston media history turns out to have been just a trial separation. Howie Carr and WRKO (680AM and 93.7FM HD-2) announced today that the legendary author, columnist and talk show host will return to the Entercom station on Monday, March 16. Carr will assume the weekday afternoon time slot he occupied on WRKO for decades, 3-7 p.m.

Entercom Boston’s VP / Market Manager Phil Zachary said he believes Carr’s return was meant to be. “As the holidays passed, it became obvious to me that WRKO and Howie belong together,” he said. “It’s that quirky relationship that everyone says will never last but ends up enduring longer than most because both partners enhance the other’s strengths and talents.” Carr’s last program on WRKO was Nov. 7, 2014.

Howie Carr stated, “I’m happy to return to WRKO. Not only does it offer a great signal with full market coverage and better programming, but it’s also the original home of my show.” Howie Carr debuted his program on WRKO in 1994.

I am so happy. I can download Howie’s podcasts again. His show on WMEX didn’t provide podcasts so the only way I could listen to Howie was live over the computer.

Thanks for posting. I’m in TX, but will try to listen to Howie on iHeart or his website. Hannity’s show (he follows Rush, here) gets turned off more than it gets listened to, on my radio.

I love Howie Carr. Sandy Shack(producer) is Jerry Williams daughter. VB is a great addition to his show.

I hadn’t heard that and doubt it. She grew up in Virginia and used to be Jerry’s producer and nowhere in Jerry’s bio Burning Up the Air does it says that. First name Nancy but nicknamed after Jerry’s girlfriend Sandy Nagro. Sandy Shack got married a few years ago and is secretive about her married surname.

Sandy was producer for Dick Syatt, then Jerry. Pic below...does she look like Jerry? I think Jerry's daughters are Eve, Andrea, and Susan. A pic on jerrywilliams.org shows Jerry and family at Bob Lee's Islander

Ha! That reminds me of the time I was working at WOTW in Nashua, and on the weekends they had Greek and polka shows with Jimmy and Helen Lagios. They were always trying to steal the regular station sponsors for themselves. They had figured out where the logs for the upcoming week were hidden, and we were warned to always keep an eye on Jimmy. One day I caught him red handed with the logs, don’t remember too much about the outcome except that he was really mad at me!

Thanks for the link. I didn’t know Howie did his own podcasts.

Now I have 3 months of Howie’s podcasts to get caught up on:-)
