There is all kinds of speculation. The videos that have been posted have been analyzed and re-analyzed to try and determine if the were old.

My theory is he is hiding behind the curtain and will re-emerge and eliminate whoever is cheering his demise.... Ala Soviet era tactics.

Paul Goble has been a ‘Kremlinologist’ for many decades and also has had good contacts with the old dissident movement. I trust his opinion/evaluation on what is going on over there.

IF there is a “Leadershp Change”, it won’t be because Putin “over-reached”, but because he didn’t reach far enough.

There are a LOT of people unhappy with how he has handled Ukraine and the US, that want this over. And by over, they mean Ukraine crushed, and Obama marginalized.

March 18th is the anniversary of the Crimean Annexation. My intitial curiosity is that it has long been rumored that Putin intends on establishing a front on the Dneiper River all the way to Odessa. I don’t know about that, but the Russians have stated that they have 29000 troops in Crimea. Also, NATO sent at least 3000 troops into the Baltics (Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania this week. Perhaps the Russians are preparing a show of force to NATO. Their borders would be much more secure if established on the River border. All of this is speculation, but as the Romans said, “Beware of the Ides of March!”

What are they saying about a Makarov? I've owned a Makarov pistol. It was double action, with the hammer pre-cocked after the first shot. With the shorter pull after the first shot, one could easily get off 6 shots in 2-4 seconds. So I don't get what they're saying about it taking 12 seconds...

I do not think Putin will go quietly into the night. His supporters will not either. In the past, lets just say Russia has a history of "turbulence" during such events.

I would hope, for the sake of the Russian people, such a level of violence is not reached. But one never knows...

It must be Italy. There are four models for European governments:
The British Model - Everything is permitted, except that which is prohibited.
The German Model - Everything is prohibited, except that which is permitted.
The Russian Model - Everything is prohibited, including that which is permitted.
And, of course, the Italian Model - Everything is permitted, including that which is prohibited.
