The tide has turned for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender couples seeking to be married in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A).

Following years of debate and introspection, America’s largest Presbyterian denomination has announced a change to its constitution that allows for a more inclusive definition of marriage.

Officially called Amendment 14-F, the new wording in the denomination’s Book of Order will describe marriage as being “between two people.”

John Knox must be rolling around in his grave at what has happened to the church he created.

How can any definition of the theology of Sola Scriptura justify gay marriega?

I never thought I would see the day, where mainstream Christian denominations embrace homosexuality.

I never thought I would see the day, where mainstream Christian denominations endorse homosexual marriage.

I really thought that churches would be a bulwark against homosexual marriage. While we see homosexual marriage being embraced in our civil laws, I really thought churches would stand firm against it.

I never thought I would see schisms in Christian denominations, over an issue such as homosexuality.

Are we in the end times? It’s enough to make you wonder.

Well ... we’re in “the days of Noah” that Jesus was talking about.

Welp, look forward to a stream of people leaving.

I never thought I would see the day, where mainstream Christian denominations embrace homosexuality.

I was in the PCUSA when it formed in 1983, and by the time I left in 1985 I knew it was coming, and the only question was how long it would take.

There is only one reason a Christian should now be in a PCUSA church, and that is as an evangelist to the pagan world.

Every book in the New Testament has warnings about false doctrine and teaching. From Matthew to Revelation. It is either specific or generic. God was using his apostles and Christ himselve to warn repeatily. What happened with the PC is not sudden but rather a gradual and incremental compromise with false doctrine. The “church” is more concerned with pleasing men and those with itchy ears and following after God’s will.

Look how Christ treated the Pharisee’s. Christ did not hold anything back on them. I really pitty those in authority positions in church demoniations around the world who have compromised and edited the gospel and doctrine.....and what sin is.

The mainstream isn’t there. It’s a historical truth, not a current truth. Denoms like PCUSA are used-up old wineskins.

There is no PCUSA. It is now the Godless Homo Junta USA and a synagogue of Satan.

EDITED: Every book in the New Testament has warnings about false doctrine and teaching. From Matthew to Revelation. It is either specific or generic. When God repeats something, it is very important. God was using his apostles and Christ himselve to warn repeatily. What happened with the PC is prophetic. It is not sudden but rather a gradual and incremental compromise with false doctrine. The “church” is more concerned with pleasing men and those with itchy ears than following after God’s will.

Look how Christ treated the Pharisee’s. Christ did not hold anything back on them. He treated them as a judge would, a rightous judge would. I really pitty those in authority positions in church demoniations around the world who have compromised and edited the gospel and doctrine.....and redefined what sin is.

For where God built a church, there the Devil would also build a chapel.

Yes, but now the devil has the church and we have been evicted to the chapel. So be it.

I was baptized as Christian by my parents. Went to faith based schools through college. Catholic schools from Pre-k-12 and a Methodist college in the south. This experience has educated me to know that the community of church is bunk. It has guided me to know my one on one relationship with God and faith is much more important and necessary than church.

Methodist based colleges and university’s do not allow fraternities or sororities. However, it will be only a matter of time until they follow suit on the gays.

The Episcopalians, some Lutherans and now Presbyterians have all gone gay. The Methodists are next. Their last pronouncement was a rejection of endorsement of homosexuality, but only after much hand-wringing. The fact that there was any hand-wringing at all is disconcerting. It's pretty clear to me God, Moses, Jesus and Paul all said that homosexuality is sin. It was unconditional condemnation.

To their credit, last year a local Methodist congregation removed from his position a lay music director who came out of the closet. The Conference stood by the church, but there was a split in the congregation; a number of members supported the music director. Apparently, they had no problems with a homosexual giving music instruction to their kids.

Still, there are enough Methodists in the clergy and rank and file that support the gay agenda that the Methodists will eventually reverse their stand. I give it no more than five years.

They can minister to the 1.5% homo minority.

It's not just the 1.5%. It also includes parents, relatives, friends, etc. A lot of these people are concerned that their homosexual children are not Christian, and it bothered them to think of them as separated from God, so they foolishly thought they could "change the rules" and the God would be bound by their new rules.

There's no point in explaining to them that this is unbiblical. Most of them don't know squat about the Bible.

I agree with you about the hand-wringing. I think the UMC is actually in better shape now strategically, since voting at General Conference is weighted by membership, which favors the conservative conferences in the southern US and global south. The current problem is that infractions of the Book of Discipline in some US conferences are overlooked or given token punishments. Even bishops are complicit. But still, the GC in 2016 will doubtless be the scene of much more hand-wringing if not a change to the Discipline.

Wasn’t there a Methodist Conference that overturned Discipline meted out to a pastor that performed a gay “marriage?” If I recall correctly, the pastor was removed, appealed to the Conference and the Conference had him reinstated. It might have been out east in Pennsylvania?
