Awful news (been listening to the emergency app on my phone). They called the coroner to that motel fire.

Any other word on that hotel fire? I hope there is a mistake and no casualities. Maybe coroner called in because of the one unaccounted person? May he/she will turn up?

Obviously Clear Channel (now IHeartMedia) knew that they were going to be dropping talk on 104.7. And if they were going to hand-off their talk lineup to WJAS, the revenues were going to drop. Likely they approached Q&R about a pay cut and they declined.

Can you imagine being asleep in your hotel room when the fire department arrives and there’s smoke and fire everywhere!

This happened to me years ago while staying at a Mom and Pop motel in northern Michigan. Each room had an individual electric heater. In the middle of the night mine malfunctioned and started spewing blue smoke into the room. It set off the smoke detector, which got me out of bed with a start.

It woke up all of the other guests too. I went outside and all of them were standing at their doors, looking to see what the commotion was. I shut down the heater.

Then I realized that the owners of the place shut down the office at 11 and went home. So there was nobody there to give me a new room. I had to spend the rest of the night in there with no heat (and it was February, so that was a mighty chilly shower in the morning!)

It will probably be on the Pgh evening news-sadly there was a body found in the room/apt where the fire started. They had to shut down the TPike ramp to Irwin exit (EB) & all four lanes of 30 from Arona Road to Adamsburg (for fire hoses).

All our firemen out here are volunteers...they did an incredible job—the motel is tucked into a hillside; had to stop traffic (hydrants on opposite side of 4 lane Rt30) and (it was below 32) surfaces were freezing over. I feel I need to acknowledge all thst because when I stopped for gas (on way to my daughters) the bitching & moaning (about roads closed) of fellow people in line (paying inside at Sheetz) just really ticked me off. Someday I know I’ll “say” something to idiots like that.

I was listening to Rush on WJAS and heard that one person died. May they rest in peace.

I agree about the people who complain. Have they no heart?
