LOL
When I lived in Florida it was still very segregated. And, unfortunately, incidences such as the one I described were commonplace. While I knew such things occurred, this was the first incident close to my home. It happened on my street about 1 mile from my house. I last visited there in 2004 and that pole is still there.
Lynching murders were commonplace? In the 60’s?
The mother of my very white, American born children was born in Alexandria, Egypt. When enrolling in University, I gave my oldest her mom’s birth certificate and a certified state dept English translation with these instructions. If the enrollment forms ask race and list African-American, check the box. When she did, she was not allowed and told that means “black”, even when she presented her “African-American” credentials. They also became very angry with her when she pressed the issue.
