Odd, There are 100’s of Starbucks in our area, but very few with black employees and no stores in poverty stricken areas. I don’t think they need to preach racism to me without looking in the mirror first.
Apart from the violence, those residents like things just fine the way they are. They want to sit on their rearends watching tv all day, pump out kid and kid, and live off the largesse of the American tax-payer the rest of their days. If Republicans won't give them that, they won't vote for them.
The problem has nothing to do with who's in charge in those cities. Dems run a lot of cities across the country like Portland, Seattle, Minneapolis and others. Those cities are nothing like Detroit, Gary, or East St. Louis.
What I've noticed about many liberal heads of corporations is that they desperately want to be seen as being on the side of the poor and oppressed...social justice and all that.
So here's a guy smart enough to accumulate close to three billion dollars, and he's mortified that he might be one of those dreaded one percenters who just don't care about the poor and oppressed. So he comes up with this thoroughly wacky idea.
Only liberals think of these things. I'll bet many of the people (fellow liberals) of the board inwardly groaned when he proposed this nutty idea.
A large coffee at Starbucks is under 2 bucks, about the same as Dunkin’ Donuts. It the coffee flavored milkshakes that cost more. As someone said, you pay about a dollar per syllable.
Cof-fee $2
Ca-pu-cin-no $4
Car-a-mel-Moch-i-a-to $7
I was in the 1st Ave. Starbucks in Seattle on Friday for my usual coffee and newspaper. The cups had a Race Together sticker pasted on, but no lecture from any of the baristas that I was able to hear. This particular store is just a couple blocks north of SBUX world headquarters.
Day late.
