Saudi Arabia is moving heavy military equipment including artillery to areas near its border with Yemen, U.S. officials said on Tuesday, raising the risk that the Middle East’s top oil power will be drawn into the worsening Yemeni conflict.

The buildup follows a southward advance by Iranian-backed Houthi Shi'ite militants who took control of the capital Sanaa in September and seized the central city of Taiz at the weekend as they move closer to the new southern base of U.S.-supported President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

The Saudis are not going to stand by and watch an Iranian satellite come to existence on its border. The Saudis crushed the Shia demonstrations in Bahrain.

The Saudis will draw a red line in the sand/aka border with the blood of Iran’s puppets.

We are seeing what happens when the US is no longer a force for good and stability in the world. For all those who wanted the world to take care of itself, we can see the effect of their efforts, when there is no moral or spiritual or political leadership.

We have and will need to do major work to restore peace in the world and to bring back the vestiges of civilization.

I am worried about that gazelle. He seems to be mowing through a lot of buckets of popcorn recently.

Have the Saudis ever really used their military on their own? I am drawing a blank on this.

I suspect that, like everything else, they would probably rather outsource it to foreigners (mercenaries).

The Saudis participated in Desert Storm. As I mentioned they did send in the tanks into Bahrain.

Let the Arabs fight it out amongst each other for once without us getting involved.

Participated. That can mean any number of things. Did they actually take casualties, or did they follow the Americans in?

When I was in the Air Force, one of the words you didn’t want on your OPR was “participated”. Sounded way too weak.

This is a direct consequence of Obama’s policy of “Leading from Behind”. An artful way of saying “not leading at all”.

24 KIA. When Iraq crossed the border into Khafji it was the Saudis who drove them out.

The Saudis have intervened in Yemen before.

I am pretty sure they will soon get the opportunity to use it a lot. They are getting surrounded by enemies, and they kicked out their big brother the US.

The House of Saud is coming to a behind the scenes collaboration with the one force in the region that can and is evidently willing to take Tehran out. They’ve never really given two s%!+s about the Palestinians anyway. No Arab country really does. As the ancient threat of Persian dominance and the Shia heresy grows Israel begins to look like a blessing to be in league with.

There have been a lot of stories in the past few years Saudi Arabia and Israel are secret BFF. They both have a common enemy: Shia Iran.
