Adam Smith, the former medical-device executive whose career was ruined when a video of him berating a Chick-Fil-A employee for the company’s anti-gay stance went viral, said his family is now homeless and living on food stamps.
Mr. Smith, 37, who was the CFO of an Arizona-based catheter manufacturer, toldABC’s “20/20” he was fired after recording an exchange between himself and a drive-thru cashier in June 2012, as the fast-food chain was embroiled in a national controversy over company President Dan Cathy’s public opposition to gay marriage.

His behavior was despicable. And he was proud of it.
Weak minded people. After all, immigrants come here with nothing and survive (I'm talking about the ones who aren't on welfare and get a job). A CFO should have some skills to get hired. I know some people who went bankrupt, they survived and rebooted their lives.
By berating a perfectly innocent girl with the most arrogant and condescending attitude possible, ....
Which makes me think “How does this person treat his subordinates?”. Probably like garbage with the same whining grating tone. I would rather get screamed at by R Lee Ermey. I suspect he also has a major case of “Don’t you know who I am”.
Adam Smith has gotten a big serving of humble pie, and he apparently has not digested it.
His speech pattern and inflections gave him away. He just “thsounded thso thsilly.” ...”Oh, and I’m not gay.” Right.
You will find such speech patterns with a lot of metrosexual liberals.

This guy has some serious problems. If I don’t like a restaurant, I just don’t go. I could never go some place and harass someone like that. How old is this guy mentally?
He deserves being beaten just for that hair.

Firstly, there actually exist perfectly reasonable people, who are not idiots and #$#$holes, who disagree with many of my viewpoints. Many of those viewpoints, I choose not to force, unsolicited, upon defenseless people who are trying to represent their employer as best as they can.
Surely, there are employers who actually SHARE this guy’s viewpoint - but THEY might not like to hire annoying pushy people who take advantage of others. Go figure.
Instead of learning something from acquiring this self-inflicted wound, he chose to write a book about it in the hopes of profiting from being a jerk.
Fred - You’re right. I don’t get to the city much living here in the boonies but I do hear a difference even in some of the Southern Cities.
One thing that is really annoying is the pattern called: “Up Talk.” It comes at the end of a sentence and the speaker, males and females, have rise in inflection as if they are asking a question. Listen for it; you’ll hear it.
It seemed years ago that only females had this speech pattern and now it has crossed over the males ...probably the “metro” stuff.
