I’ll accept that this may be a real condition, but perhaps being a teacher may not be the best of professions for someone with said condition.

I have to agree with this position. If you have a "Y" chromosome, you are a male. If you don't, you are a female. This person does not have a "Y" Chromosome, and is therefore Female, regardless of genitalia.
Now I would presume that this person has a uterus and ovaries, but I haven't seen that mentioned anywhere.
I express no support for the school but this particular individual has been medically wronged and is simply doing the right thing to try to approximate what she truly is by birth.
And guess what parents. You get to pay for his “fundemental transformation,” his salary, and his pension.
No, they weren't forced to choose. They were irresponsible and lazy and daddy probably wanted a boy. Tests for X and Y were available and the doctor should have told them to do the test. Common sense would have done the test.

She’s got 2 X chromosomes, no Y. You get what that means, right? She’s a girl.
But this person did not naturally look outwardly masculine. She has Kallmann Syndrome, which (as the article notes) blocks the onset of puberty (and the resulting secondary sex characteristics). The only reason she had outwardly male characteristics was because she was artificially pumped full of testosterone and other male hormones during adolescence.
So, she did not "chemically or surgically mutilate" herself - she had surgery and treatments to correct surgicaly and chemical mutilations that happened years/decades earlier.
Well, if you'd read the article, you would have seen that SHE was surgically and chemically mutilated as an infant and child, when she didn't have a say in the matter. She recently had surgery and medical treatments to correct the mutilations.
But sure, keep calling her a psychopath.
And if the parents had chosen to go the female route on their ambiguously “gendered” baby after birth, it would have chosen to be a male about this same time.

I’m wondering what type of genitals this person has? The article didn’t say how that supposed birth defect was remedied, if at all, only that hormone therapy was used.
And all of this medical information is really just on the word of the person involved. There is no way for the press to check out whether there really is a genetic issue here, the guy/girl just SAID that was the case.

Later genetic testing would reveal that Swager did indeed possess two X chromosomes, not the X and Y combination that makes someone genetically male.
This is pretty rare and is not a case of perversion as such.
However,the handling of the situation by the teacher and the school is horrible. The school administrators are cowardly incompetents and the teacher is a complete self centered jerk.
