doesnt the military have to provide him counsel? Although I was never court-martialed it's my understanding that the accused is entitled to a military defense lawyer,free of charge,and the accused is also allowed to hire civilian counsel at his/her own expense.

It is not reasonable to claim that Bergdahl slipped away to report problems in his command.
Fact 1: he shipped his computer and personal items home. This shows his intention to leave.
Fact 2: it’s fairly simple for a soldier to report anything all the way up the chain of command. Letters, emails, appointments, etc. are simple.

Absolutely correct, my FRiend.
He planned this for a period of time.
He could have requested to see his next highest commander or even an IG and in my view Bergdahl was fully aware of that.
