The highest court in Italy on Friday has overturned the murder convictions of Amanda Knox and her ex-boyfriend in the sensational 2007 stabbing death of her British roommate.
The ruling was the latest turn in an odyssey of international justice for Knox, who spent four years in an Italian jail after the killing. She has returned to the United States and vowed not to return to Italy.
She and the ex-boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, were convicted in 2009, then acquitted and freed in 2011. An appeals court overturned the acquittals and ordered a new trial, and they were convicted again last year. Knox was sentenced in absentia to 25 years in prison. Sollecito was sentenced to 28 1/2 years.
Knox and Sollecito were arrested after the roommate, Meredith Kercher, was found dead in a pool of blood in their apartment in the university town of Perugia, as many as 40 knife wounds over her half-naked body.
Prosecutors argued that Kercher was killed as part of a sex game. Knox and Sollecito said they were alone together on the night in question, watching a movie, smoking pot and having sex.

Yes but not a sociopath. She likely has a form of autism called "Asperger’s syndrome".
Knox’s lack of social skills, unusual reactions to emotion and lack of concern about appearance — all common in autism spectrum conditions — were clear to everyone who knew her:
“She’s a little dork who doesn’t wear matched socks,” says her best friend, Madison Paxton. …
[Sollecito said]: “I noticed that her opinions on the music were odd. … She didn’t concentrate on the emotions it provoked but only on the rhythm — slow, fast, slow.”
And, like many autistic people, Knox was highly intelligent but also extremely naïve and gullible:
“She’s the smartest person you’d ever know” but “dumb as a rock” when it comes to “street sense,” [her stepfather said]. In conversations with her friends and family, a portrait emerges of a person with a childlike innocence. She was, as her mother, Edda, puts it, “oblivious to the dark side of the world.”

She’s innocent, she didn’t kill anyone.
An overturned conviction does not convince me that she’s not guilty.

The (unconscious) reasoning probably runs along the lines of she’s good-looking and good-looking people in the movies are seldom the bad guys. Ergo, she must be innocent.
In my town, a legally blind man -- who self-admittedly was not wearing corrective lenses as required on his license -- driving an F-150 killed a 72 year old cyclist, at least four feet off the berm of the road.
The driver is/was a big deal in these parts. The coroner ruled there was nothing suspicious or negligent about the death. The DA asked the coroner to reopen. He again found no homicide nor suspicious cause. Normally that's the end of it.
The DA took the case to the local magistrate who is related to the driver. The magistrate held a hearing and found no grounds for an arraignment. That's invariably the end of the story. But, the prosecutor is entitled to enter a case in the Superior Court even without an arraignment. He did. The driver was convicted of a negligent homicide, as he should have been all along.
Were there really three trials? No. Just one.
Italy has a system that allows multiple levels of trial. If they don't like it, they have a republican form of government and they can change it. There's nothing dodgy about the process here, just the behavior of the police, Amanda Knox, and her accomplices, only one of whom now will serve time for the crime.
That's probably a correct verdict on the basis of police misconduct. But it only means she's legally innocent. She will face another Judge someday. And then, she won't be able to lie.

I’ve watched all the interviews with her since she got back to the U.S. Scary, to say the least.
I am not planning on buying a Jeep, but there are some nice ones in the line up. Especially if gasoline prices stay low.
If the Italian prosecutors thought Knox was hot, why didn't they just ask her out on a date, instead of stalking her using their court system? LOL! :)
Just because she is from the U.S. and she killed a British person is not a conservative reason to support someone.
Have you contacted the Italian legal authorities with your “evidence?”
And the controversy is why everyone wants to get in on the $$$. There have been ten to maybe a dozen books written about this case from all points of view:
"She's guilty as sin" to "a victim of overzealous prosecution by a corrupt prosecutor."
Her behavior is not the least bit typical of Asperger's Syndrome. She simply has no concept of right and wrong. She's Jodi Arias, but she's gotten the benefit of some absolutely horrible police work.
There’s plenty of evidence. Her groupies just don’t want to acknowledge it.
you are shameful, I am giving Glory to God and weeping with joy for this wonderful unexpected outcome. She was totally 150% innocent from day 1, it was very easy to see.
Since when do Conservatives stand for injustice and imprisoning innocent people in Italian jail?
I think you need to rethink what Conservative means, if you really believe it is jailing innocent people, baring false witness etc, ??? I will pray for you.
