The ace in the hole for Jeb Bushs presidential candidacy has always been the money primary. Big donors line up to support a chosen instrument, and the overwhelming organizational, advertising, and campaigning advantages money can buy serve to crush the other potential and actual candidates for the nomination. It is how the GOP establishment, tightly tied to groups like the US Camber of Commerce and Wall Street heavyweights, maintains its control. Ted Cruz may have managed to raise $2 million in 3 days after announcing his candidacy, but that is just peanuts compared to the $100 million Jeb expects to raise for the primary campaign.
But one of the biggest of big donors, and an opinion leader among other donors is Sheldon Adelson, the casino mogul reckoned to be one of the wealthiest people in the world. And he is very unhappy over James Baker, Bush family consigliere and an enemy of Israel (Adelsons dearest cause) becoming foreign policy advisor to the Bush campaign and giving the keynote address at a recent J Street meeting. The New York Times reports:
Sheldon Adelson, the billionaire casino mogul and a powerful donor to Republican super PACs, is among those who have expressed concerns to Mr. Bushs friends and allies, several of them said. Mr. Adelson is said to be incensed over Mr. Bakers comments and the lack of pressure put on him by the Bush team before his address a significant concern, given that Mr. Adelson has the resources to pour tens of millions of dollars into the Republican presidential primary.
But the flare-up could thrust Mr. Bush into conflict with some of the most hawkish voices in his party, including some leading Republican donors, and a constituency determined to demonstrate its strength in the primary.

Too bad Reagan didn't pick Laxalt in 1980!
“Too bad Reagan didn’t pick Laxalt in 1980!”
My understanding is that Karl Rove was insistent on backstopping the Regan Revolution. Therefore (per the party bosses) a conservative Veep was out of the question.
I could be wrong on that.
I think Jeb Bush may not enter the race. Even he realizes that the more more conservative Scott Walker and Ted Cruz does more to energize the voter base than he will.
“I think Jeb Bush may not enter the race.”
You may be correct. And the Establishment will shift its support to Rubio and maybe Lindsey Graham, while at the same time funding Huckabee so he can help split the conservative vote.
It’s Cruz of Walker. The rest are worthless.
Jeb seems to have a tremendous ego and sense of entitlement. The Bush’s and the Clintons are part of the cause of the problems we face today. No more of either.
They live with this infantile denial and seem to have NO intention of acknowledging that 2008 put the US on a path to which NO ONE may return and succeed.
The house fell on them and they didn't blink.
Cruz is suppose to be at a dinner fundraiser function I do believe next month so I hope Aleson supports and trows his money towards Cruz.
If Jebs money woes gets worse he may have to drop out..let it so, .Awesome Good ! ...Lord God of Israel please make it so, Amen.. Also God ? Let all the other worthless canadates and those who hate Israel drop out of the GOP race, Amen
I also have my suspicions that Jebbie will not run. For one thing I have never believed that Jeb really wanted to run. He is being pushed into it. An secondly Jeb Bush has almost zero grass roots support. All the money in the world is no good if people just won’t vote for you. His appearance at CPAC was desparate and sad.
