We don’t trash liberal arts, merely those who teach it : )

May my conservative English professor dad, rest in peace.

Nothing wrong with liberal arts aside from what most schools have done to them.

Hillsdale college is a liberal arts school and most conservatives would be proud to have a son or daughter in attendance.

He makes good sense. I graduated with a degree in this during the 70s when the courses were all dedicated to the greatest literature and art that Western Civilization could offer.

From my inbox today and shows why we are losing:

CAMPAIGN SCHOOL & POLTICAL ADVOCACY FOR SOCIAL WORKERS: Friday, 4/24 & Saturday, 4/25 (15 Contact Hours)

This workshop is available to anyone who shares Social Work values/ethics, and will have an interprofessional theme, so we urge all professions to attend. The University of New England (UNE) is collaborating with Nancy A. Humphrey’s Institute for Political Social Work (NAHIPSW) at the University of Connecticut in order to replicate their Campaign School, which has successfully run at UConn for 18 years. We are thrilled to offer this inaugural Campaign School at UNE’s School of Social Work.

DETAILS:

• Topics covered will include: Effectively Participating in the Legislative Process, Using the Political Arena in Advocating for Clients, Deciding when and how to Run for Office, Communicating your Message, Utilizing Social Media, and Public Speaking.

• Trainers/speakers may include, but are not limited to: Kate Coyne-McCoy, Former Senator Colleen Lachowicz, Mayor Michael Brennan, Speaker of the House Mark Eves, and several other elected officials and politically active social workers.

• Friday’s and Saturday’s sessions will run all day (roughly 8:30am to 5pm) and will include breakfast and lunch.

• Full-participation of both days will be awarded 15 Contact Hours, which the Maine Board of Social Worker Licensure equates to 1.5 CEU’s.

• Cost of Attendance: Scholarships are available for those who are not able to pay the registration fee—please see below. UNE Students: Free; Non-UNE Students: $50; Non-students: $100

• To register (or apply for financial assistance): Please contact Jenna Cruite at jcruite@une.edu or (207) 221-4513. Jenna is also more than happy to answer any questions or collaborate with anyone who is interested in playing a larger role in this event.

The war on strawmen continues...

Reminds me of Obama's speeches:

The point of a liberal arts education is to produce an educated man. It is not the same thing, and not intended necessarily to be the same thing as job training.

The left have destroyed liberal arts education. I agree with Sowell.

The so-called arts are a home for every sort of perversion and tyranny over all who do not believe exactly as the artsy believe. We must be forced to support that which we abhor through taxation rather than choose to support what we like through purchasing it.
