A routine car stop in Brooklyn led police to apprehend a man in possession of a high-powered machine gun — a weapon that the NYPD's new gunshot-detection system may have recorded being used recently, cop sources said.

Anti-Crime Unit cops from the 81st Precinct in Bedford-Stuyvesant pulled over a 2013 Chevy Impala on Ralph Ave. near Bainbridge St. on Wednesday evening because it had excessively tinted windows.

It sounds reasonable enough, if not a little under powered, for a drive in Brooklyn. The cops shouldn’t arrest the guy for being insufficiently prepared. After all, had he gotten into a shootout with thugs, the cops would show up to do their share of the shooting.

PPS-43, originally chambered in 7.62x25, after the war several Warsaw Pact countries produced them as well. I believe there was a Polish version in 9mm. I think some semi-auto versions were produced as parts kits are available and not considered class 3.

Poland also produced them.

Yeah, but it LOOKS like a “machine gun” so that’s what really counts.

It’s reallly amazing that people who enforce our laws don’t know the difference between a machine gun and a sub-machine gun.

Machine guns are belt fed whereas submachine guns are magazine fed.

Machine guns are belt fed whereas submachine guns are magazine fed.

I thought the difference was that submachine guns used sub-sonic/pistol ammunition, while a machine gun used high-velocity/rifle ammunition.

If it’s not at least .30 cal belt-fed, it doesn’t count as “high-powered”

"Machine guns are belt fed whereas submachine guns are magazine fed."

That's a silly definition. Is an M249 SAW a submachine gun when you use magazines with it, and does it become a machine gun when you hook up a belt?

> high-powered machine gun...
I was expecting a 50 cal. or at least an M60 machine gun.
What I see in the photos is just some gang-banger tricked out handgun with the ability to be automatic.

Per another article:

McManus has been arrested 11 times before, most recently for a 1999 robbery in Bed-Stuy for which he served 10 years in prison, according to police and Department of Correction records.

He was released on parole in August 2011, prison records show.

As a professional driver I try to make eye contact with other drivers who are preparing to pull onto the road. If you make eye contact, you know your chances of the driver pulling in front of you are minimal

Ha .....but not in LA

From an earlier thread today: Re: “Denise Chiffon Berry, 44, was driving in Hawthorne Wednesday afternoon with her son when the boy made eye contact with three men driving by in a Cadillac, police said.”

(The woman was shot dead shortly after.)

That was the trigger. Eye contact is a sign of aggression to blacks. If you watch how blacks relate to each other, there’s very little direct eye contact.

one cops photo..was ..seemingly “out of place” but three...was very...out of place considering that posting copse photos after an arrest is something I’ve never seen done before.

There was a 22 caliber drum fed machine gun which could chew through cinder blocks like a steel band saw. Can’t remember the name.
