“It looks like smoking, so ban it”

There is much more risk of opening doors of public places with bare hands than a molecule of airborne nicotine.

I agree with most of what you said however I don’t believe long-term health risks for either pure substance have been established by any properly controlled studies. Nor have benefits, for that matter. That with which I took issue was the assertion “The two substances are nearly identical in their molecular structure...” which is nonsense chemically. It’s like saying that crude oil and whale blubber are “nearly identical in their molecular structure” because they’re both primarily composed of hydrocarbons. I would also note in support that while the effects of nicotine and caffeine are grossly similar they act on entirely different biochemical pathways.

The Left really does not care about your health, or anyone else’s. To them this is all about CONTROL.

What’s a concerned public health agency to do?

Go find something else to worry about?

Second hand smoke cigarette smoke is unpleasant and can have some mild detrimental effect on the people around you.

E-cigs have removed that effect so let it go.

This sounds like the hysterics they had when wine coolers came out. "Candy flavors!" "Kids may try it!"

I wouldn't be surprised to find tobacco companies subsidizing "studies" showing the "dangers" of vaping.

It's all about the Benjamins.

They should have stepped on the neck of tobacco back in 1996...

THEY should have minded their own damned business back in 1996 the same as THEY should do today! I am sick of government intrusion into our lives. I guess you are not.

There’s as much as you want. Typically you start out at a level equivalent to what is in a cigarette and how much you smoke, 1 pack, 2 packs. Then you can reduce that as you see fit. I’m well below the average of a “light” cigarette and have had no problem getting there. Banning vaping is ridiculous. There’s no “second hand smoke” cause there’s no smoke at all. It’s just water vapor to fool your head into thinking you’re exhaling smoke.

One can expect a strong reaction when one stands between an addict and his fix.

One can expect a not even slightly closeted fascist to allege that people with lifelong abstinence from a substance are really addicts when they get in the way of his fanatical desire to micromanage the lives of free citizens.

Stay commie Haiku Guy, stay commie.

This is the very attitude of which I was speaking. Something that doesn’t even affect you, but somehow you managed to get around to attempting to belittle people doing something you don’t like.

A song reaction to your advocation of socialism to fprohibit behaviors you do not like ... strictly because you do not like them. I also oppose mandatory seatbelt laws, bans on toy guns that look real, and a plethora of other cookie cutter socialist causes.

You threw out an allegation that people who refuse to embrace the core socialist principles which you allegations enthusiastically advocating in this thread are by default addicts.

I have never smoked in my life, nor done illegal drugs. I seldom consume alcohol. I have a cup of coffee at church every now and then.

Now, you have made it clear that in your thinking personal freedom is a horrifying drug. You are posting on the wrong site.
