It always has been urban vs rural.

Problem is that the NY upstaters are moving south and bringing their ignorant voting ways and welfare thinking with them. Trust me we have had a family rent a house in our neighborhood who are nothing but layabouts and welfare collecters

Agree. The only city which is decent in my view is Charleston SC, though Savannah is not too bad.

Always look at the County maps. Maryland. Virginia.

And the 17th Amendment eliminated rural representation in the US Senate which lead to concentrating wealth in rural areas into the same hands that control the wealth in urban areas.

We need to start taking some urban ground.

Personally I think Detroit is an ideal city to take. Socially its far more conservative than most with a population overwhelmingly opposed to gay marriage and supportive of the 2nd amendment. If we could get some manufacturing back into the city I think we would find a lot of converts. Its experiencing a tech boom because we’ve got a tech fixated governor.

And Reynolds v. Sims, aka "One Man/One Vote", eliminated rural representation in state legislatures.

What those who alwarys bark about red vs blue states have yet to understand is there isn’t a major city left in the U.S. which is real conservative.

Not Houston, Dallas, Chicago, NY, Denver, Miami etc...Not one major city I know of could possibly be considered a genuine conservative city. They don’t exist IMO.

RE: we have had a family rent a house in our neighborhood who are nothing but layabouts and welfare collecters

So, are they renting the house with government money?

What about San Diego and Charleston S.C.?

We may be down to the 100,000 population level, and in a lot of places cities of 25,000 have leftist kooks wagging the dog.

No sale on the map. See #9.

The major cities are where the political powers and money are located. And most all major cities regardless of state, can no way be considered, “conservative major cities”.

Like CA and NY for instance. Get away from the major city population centers where the populations are small and you get a lot of genuine conservative people. Even in CA.

The entire red/blue state thing is total BS.

San Diego is loaded with leftist...They’re everywhere.

SD used to be a military town with a united people, who all spoke the same common language.

That’s old history, old America, trust me here.

Unfortunately, under the winner-take-all paradigm in the Electoral College, that red state versus blue state business elects the president.

If the whole country adopted the Maine-and-Nebraska formula for awarding electoral votes, that would change. The 1960 and 2012 elections would have gone the other way.

I think more representational to the red/blue map is the purple one. This reflects not only red/blue areas but the vote density.

Michigan has legislation languishing in committee that would award our electoral votes by district.

Ya can’t get away from it anymore. Point was most every major city is a leftist pit and getting worse. The freedom/American hating left has infiltrated government at all levels. Not just in D.C. or SF etc...

In fact the last two+ generations have had their brains cleansed with liberal cow flop during their young years. Get them while they’re young! We’re all seeing the results of this.

BTW you can drive 1.5 hours east or north of SF, and find actual real Americans who are hard core conservative and who happened to be quite PO’d at what has happened to this once united country.

AMEN. One angle I have been pushing is awarding electoral votes is by Congressional District.

The problems mentioned in the opening article can be applied to just about any state. In Nevada, Las Vegas rules the roost.
