Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.) is set to reintroduce legislation this week that would provide a $2,000 tax credit to people who chose to turn in an assault weapon to law enforcement.
According to the Support Assault Firearm Elimination and Education of our (SAFER) Streets Act, the term specified assault weapon that people could turn in for the tax credit includes a long list of pistols, rifles and shotguns including:

I hope it does pass!
I'll go buy an AR-15 lower receiver for $50 (eligible per page 7 (J) of her bill) and make $1950 in profit.
With that $1950 I'll get something really cool like a Springfield Armory Scout Squad or a DS Arms FN-FAL.
I have a non-functional pair of Century Arms L1A1s that I’d really like to turn in. I don’t live in that stupid state.
Just what we should expect a statist to say.
$2,000 tax credit ==
That is NOT the same as cash buy back.
Look for ‘loopholes’, and ‘qualifying’ conditions, etc.
My tragic boating accident was on the deepest part of the Chesapeake Bay. Where was yours?
“I know you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, BUT.....”
Ack ack...ack ack ack ack.
I wonder if she realizes that her argument can also be used to oppose the police (including the Capitol police and the secret service) having those types of weapons.
That's not the deal. She wants to give only $1,000 taxable income deduction per year, for two successive years, which only on the state tax would be pennies off the tax due, on the dollar of taxable income, in any given year. It doesn't do any thing for the federal tax.
Don't you get it? She wants to buy something on the cheap, any single item of which would be more profitable to sell for its full market price and lawfully owned. And none of this would be granted to the owner of a gun unlawfully possessed.
This bill will not get one unlawfully possessed gun off the street. How stupid can you get?
I'll take 'em. Their little problems can be cured. Or, if you prefer, I'll get them both running right, and you can have your pick after, and I'll take the remaining one. Any remaining difference can be made up by extra inch-pattern [most L1A1s] or metric [some Century L1A1s] magazines for you, or other additional spare parts and accessories as works out.
If she were smart, she’d petition to have 18 USC 922 (o) repealed and then up the NFA transfer tax to $2000.00 (and remove SBS/SBR/Suppressors/AOWs) from NFA.......all the while positioning more conservatives in House and Senate to eventually repeal NFA of 34, GCA of 68, FOPA of 86, etc.
Buy a Hi Point carbine for $200 and get a $2000 tax credit, buy ten more and repeat.
Called it...
I knew they would specify what type of property they would accept...
I’m smart enough to not live in Connecticut. I didn’t bother paying much attention to the details because I will never live in Ct and don’t care what they do.
Ruger 10-22 because it can kill 22 people with 10 bullets...
Totally. and the Charger “Takedown” with a 50 rnd “clip” (had to use that term, mostly because it drives my RO crazy :) ) can do even better.
;^)
Connecticut’s little mandatory registration thingie ain’t turning out so well, since your Keystones are too afraid to enforce it, eh, Rosie?
Unintended Consequences are a bitch.
Lake Tahoe. Or the Mariana Trench. Whichever works best.
I’ve got this little POS .22 that my sister (from Seattle, ‘nuff said) was scared of and asked me to keep. For $2K, its yours!
As for my other items, ahhh... no.
