Bicycling is also a good way to build stamina and check out the world at a more leisurely pace. Smell the roses and all that.

For a while I thought you were going to talk about the paleo diet our early ancestors ate. Their entire job every day was to find food to eat and maintain shelter. Once fire was discovered there was wood to collect to cook and stay warm.

Between their diet and active lifestyle; they never got fat. Of course they didn’t live very long back then either but that’s not the issue here.

Age 65 physical therapist. I provide home-care PT to elderly folks 80+, living in community or assisted living. I have had 1000’s of hours “treating” and observing the aging process.

I now have a clear understanding of how and why we loose our physical vitality. And I have devised a remedy.

I exercise exactly 10 minutes everyday. My fitness level is extremely high. Muscle tone and definition in all the major muscle groups, flexibility and range of motion at all major joints. Pain free and very very active.

My 10 minute daily exercise program consists of performing a specific set of 20 movements and stretches that are fundamental to all human beings. I call them the “Essential 20.”

Each of the 20 “exercises” is timed at 30 seconds. So, 20 exercise X's 30 seconds each = 10 minutes.

I have created a tool/apparatus that facilitates performance of the “Essential 20.” I call it a “MobilityBar.”

The MobilityBar provides the perfect point of leverage and stability for performing the “Essential 20.”

I am currently working with a local metal fabricator to produce a commercial quality MobilityBar. I hope to be offering my 10 Minute MobilityBar Home Exercise System, to the public later this year.

I’m so sorry. It’s a hell and I feel bad more for my mother at times than me. No parent should have to see their child suffer. The klonopin, along with 1200mgs of Neurontin at bedtime, along with two advil pm, lol, helps take away most of the terrifying symptoms, such as waking up with internal tremors, night terrors, waking every hour, severe pain in stem of brain, back of head. This board has so many wonderful people and I feel I am not alone now after feeling alone for years now. Best friends couldn’t take the injury and left. I forgive them. Thank you again to all who replied. God bless your daughter.

Okay, thanks. I knew there had to be a reason I went with the green - I use it in my morning smoothies.

God bless you. I started Turmeric, but like most things I start, I stopped after a few weeks. Eight years later and still a struggle as you know. My faith is weak but I am trying. I finally tried another office job six years after last one and was fired after one day because I couldn’t remember even the smallest things. I will try to get a different job that doesn’t depend on short term memory so much. Great to know others are fighting it and succeeding. Sleep is BIG. And I have read Turmeric is a huge hep. I read FR a lot to stay sharp :)

My doctor told me to do a 20 min. mile every day. I try to. It’s about the pace of a brisk walk.

I am sorry and you are so brave. I fear Alzheimer’s although the link between brain injury and it are not conclusive yet. I just don’t want it while my mother is alive. What you did was heroic and kind. I have to admit I have gained a TON of weight. You just kind of give up but I must start fighting back.
Your love for your husband is beautiful.

I agree with your prescription to walk, which I do 5 miles a day.

It’s also interesting how you tie it in to our hunting days, which I also agree with. But not just hunting... carrion scavenging.

Green can gelatin-collagen is made from grass fed cattle
Orange can is derived from pigs

Green can is more easily assimilated because it is hydrolyzed gelatin. They process it with bromelain to break it down a bit https://www.bing.com/search?q=bromelain&pc=MOZI&form=MOZCON

With the green I eat it out of the can four tbsp per day. I phoned up Great Lakes and they said 4-5 tablespoons per day divided into in 2 or 3 doses

I like molasses as a sweetener because it the opposite of white sugar. When sugar is processed into white sugar, molasses is what they strip out. Molasses is the left over dregs. I like molasses in tea and black coffee. I don’t drink much of either

I go into an ethnic store that has nice thicker Jamaican molasses. It is thicker and darker than Grandmas’s Molasses which is common in most grocery stores

First of all thank you for your reply and it appears that we pretty much on the same page. I am heading towards eighty myself, and as far as exercise is concerned my favorite mode of transportation always has and continuous to be swimming one mile each and every day along with pushing weights. In years past it included walking, hiking and my favorite, ice hockey.

As far as foods are concerned I never had much of a sweet tooth to begin with and in later years pretty well stayed away from anything containing sugar, such as cakes, pastries, ice cream etc. and of course pop. What little sweetener I use is XYLITOL which can be easily researched on the Internet.

I contribute my overall good health to taking Aspirin ever since I was about seventeen due to a problem with my vertebras in my neck which would dislocate quite easily and result in headaches. What I considered to be more of a mechanical problem than anything else. In later years this condition improved but I continued taking Aspirin if for no other reason, that it is an anti-inflammatory agent and most problems seem to originate with an inflammation either here and there and before you know it they can become chronic and then it may avalanche in to something rather undesirable. And yes I am fully aware that Aspirin also acts as a blood thinning agent causing platelets being less sticky, along with bleeding issues upon any injuries.

In order to counteract this potential problem I load up with a variety of green vegetables (K- Vitamin) which I happen to love anyway along with the fermentation of same.

I also indulge in a variety of other substances I believe help my overall health, with most of them bought in bulk, such as turmeric, magnesium, MSM, the whole spectrum of the B –group of vitamins along with zinc, kelp and several others just to mention some of them. And of course I try to get sunshine each and every day, as without it we may exist but never thrive.

My weight is about the same as when I was about twenty-two and some of the benefits are; that I still outswim most anyone in my age group and a lot of them only half my age.

My philosophy always has been to learn as much as possible what is beneficial to one’s health and so far it has paid off rather handily as I consider the most important things in life to be Health, Finances and Politics as if anyone of them flounders you are going to encounter problems.

All I can say is that the positive results speak for themselves as I am planning to keep it up until I drop as my intentions are to run through the finish line instead being pushed through in a wheelchair. Time will tell……….

our ancestors died early...despite their stamina and exercise

That is correct, but I guarantee it was not from heart attacks, the leading killer today. Their mortal enemy were germs and parasites, for which they had little defense. We live in a blessed era. We can keep our hearts strong via exercise, and can subdue most germs with miracle medicines.

When he kept talking about our distant ancestors having to eat wild game I thought he would say he eats roadkill.

I appreciate his other advice though and yours and everyone else's. My stamina is still good but now starting my 50's I have to start to be more active and proactive.
