Polls: Americans Are Fed Up with Immigration

American opposition to the Obama administration and GOP establishment’s extremist immigration policies is boiling at an all-time high, a broad survey of polls shows.

Sixty percent of Americans are displeased with the current levels of immigration, according to Gallup—a decline from 72 percent in 2008, when the country plunged into a recession, but an increase of six percent from 2014. The majority of adults Gallup polled, 39 percent in a plurality, said they wanted to see immigration levels decrease. Gallup presents these numbers through a partisan filter as “fodder” for Republicans, discomforted as they are by the results.

According to Pew Research Center, 69 percent of Americans want to “restrict and control”immigration rates. That’s 72 percent of whites, 66 percent of blacks, and 59 percent of Hispanics. Pew frames its questions to suggest that minorities are being somehow oppressed in America, so the results are not only indicative of support for immigration control but also a rejection of the leftist narrative that the U.S. selfishly hoards its goodiesfrom the world.

A nervous Reuters report, published before the historic 2014 midterm elections, found that support for reduced rates of immigration crushed support for an increase by a three-to-one margin, 45 percent to 17.

With reports revealing that foreign-born workers seized all newly-created jobs from 2000 to 2014, Americans sense that while low-skilled immigrants steal opportunities from Americans looking to enter the job market, highly-skilled immigrants imported on the cheap by businesses threaten to turn middle class professionals into commodities. Sixty-one percent of respondents polled by Princeton Survey Research Associates in June 2013 said we must restrict the number of highly-skilled foreign workers coming into the country, the same summer the Senate struggled to pass the Gang of Eight immigration bill to open the floodgates.

From the article

Perhaps the most stunning look at American resistance to mass immigration can be seen in a Polling Company study that revealed Americans believe businesses looking for workers should raise their wages rather than recruiting foreigners, 75 percent to eight. Across racial and political lines, respondents supported higher wages—with immigration restrictions, not minimum wage laws. - See more at: http://www.teaparty.org/polls-americans-fed-immigration-95358/#sthash.qwZPyL4W.dpuf

I would still love to know where all those bricks are that were sent to President Bush are. We have been talking about Immigration reform since President Reagan granted Amnesty. When is something going to be done? That border needs closed. I don’t care if we are called names for it. So what if liberals are in an uproar over it. That does not matter. I even speak Spanish so it isn’t going to affect me if the United States suddenly changes to Spanish in everything but our country was not founded on it. We need reform now. Shut down the border and then deal with who we have here now. Not hard at all.

Americans have been fed up with the invasion for decades and our representatives have been more concerned with importing more cheap labor for their masters.

Republicans represent the employers of illegal aliens.
Democrats represent the illegal aliens.
No one represents the citizens.
This must change.

And it won’t change until we have a president who will enforce the immigration laws, unlike the last several who have ignored them.

This isn't about illegal aliens and the border. It is about reducing LEGAL IMMIGRATION from the current 1.1 million a year. Since 1990 over 30 MILLION LEGAL PERMANENT IMMIGRANTS have entered this country. In addition to the costs in terms of jobs, depressed wages, and increased welfare costs, there are electoral consequences. 87% of the LEGAL IMMIGRANTS are minorities as defined by the USG. Immigrants and minorities vote two to one Democrat.

We have just had the two largest decades of immigration in American history. The numbers are astounding, which accounts for the fact that we have the lowest labor participation rates in 38 years. We have a labor surplus.

Are borders are wide open, yet they’ll grope and fondle you at the airport because Al Qaeda is hiding in your underwear. What a frickin’ phoney fraud this “keeping you safe” is.

Democrats support big business. Don’t let them fool you. They are corporate cronyists in every pore of their body.

Enforcing the laws will not change the fact that we bring in 1.1 million LEGAL PERMANENT IMMIGRANTS A YEAR.

I'm with you. We manage the legal immigration just fine. I'm sick and tired of the media conflating legal and illegal immigration.

Follow the laws on illegal immigration, congress.

The tide started to change in the 1960s with Teddy Kennedy's bills. Until that point in time, the reality was that this country had a very controlled immigration policy that consciously throttled down (legal) immigration after each wave to allow time for assimilation of the new immigrants to occur. (Now, assimilation is actively DISCOURAGED as another way to split the nation apart.)

Additionally, the immigration policies were designed to benefit the USA and its citizens, not the rest of the world, or corporatists. This whole "we are a nation of immigrants" meme is false in its implications that unbridled immigration from all over the world has been our policy, and as such is responsible for building the country to the stature that it had reached (prior to the flooding that has occurred since the 1960s).

We manage the legal immigration just fine.

Really? Do we need 1.1 million legal immigrants a year, most of them from the Third World? We are importing poverty. Legal immigrants use welfare to a greater extent than the native born. Legal immigrants are taking American jobs. We need to reduce legal immigration and go to a merit based system, not the current kinship system we now have. We also bring in 650,000 guest workers a year with about 2 million guest workers here at any one time.

It is not the legal immigrants I am worried about. It is the millions of illegals who are gaming the system.
