The U.S. House of Representatives is working hard to legitimize discrimination against gay and transgender people and women. And it's using religious liberty as its smokescreen.
That's why leaders in movements for LGBT equality, reproductive freedom, and freedom of religion and belief are standing shoulder-to-shoulder in a new effort to oppose any move, at the state or federal level, to use religion to discriminate, including a measure approved by a House committee last night.
A committee of the US House of Representatives decided that employees in the District of Columbia could be fired for using in vitro fertilization to start a family or for becoming pregnant while unmarried.

I hate these people and everything they stand for.
And apparently women and LGBT are the only ones ever discriminated against. What about the blond haired, blue eyed white guy?
I guess only certain people matter.

This news makes my day. I am LOL. Thank you Gawd.
Wanna bet that the ACLU would sweep in to defend a mosque from being rented for a gay shacking up ceremony? That they’d be quick to join a suit against a Catholic church?
Christians are their target of choice.
The solution is simple, elect a new majority in the House of Representatives who are losers just like you and who will build a magical fantasy world funding by those who will work their their fingers to the bones to provide all of the free stuff necessary for social justice.
I reserve my right to discriminate against behavior i will not condone
“...and it’s using religious liberty as its smokescreen.”
It really gripes the ACLU that religious institutions and people have rights too.
I don’t see this as the religions institutions or people desiring to deny anyone certain rights. They just want their own right to remain.
Once exception is marriage, but I think Christians can make a pretty solid claim that their beliefs go back quite a period of time. They haven’t suddenly changed them to lock someone out.
Ah yes, the “smokescreen” of religious liberty... because the homo-nazis driving small business out of business isn’t really happening...
And the “smokescreen” of religious liberty seeks independence from women??? Who knew?
elections’ have consequences :)
Discrimination in so called “reproductive freedom” (against women I presume)
what ??? congress voted in free condoms for men or something ???
Toss the SCLC in with the ACLU, & NAACP bag
It’s about time someone in the House did SOMETHING. Though the rest of them will cave soon enough. And if they shouldn’t, by some miracle, the Senate certainly will.
Is freedom of religion and conscience not a civil liberty?
Yeah....that pesky old First Amendment.
This “LGBT” stuff is a pantload, a contrivance to amalgamate freaks who, standing alone, wouldn’t matter one whit to the average citizen.
Dykes and sissies might have a convergence of interests, since they are both homosexual.
But bisexuals are just sex-crazed hedonists; transgenders are people with personality disorders so severe that they willfully mutilate themselves.
The ACLU should just STFU.
I keep reading the document and keep coming up empty.
By the way, ACLU, any law, regulation or policy ever adopted, which contradicts the stated rights that were accepted as existing and unalienable in the Bill of Rights,, is illegitimate and null and void.
No, not even the Supreme Court is granted the power to do that.
A delusional illegitimate, treasonous president, even less.
The ACLU is such a rat-hole filled with people who love disgusting and nasty things.
Notice how they claim to read minds.
Well, here’s the fact, the public services are provided to those who deserve “rights” according to the ACLU, then the 1st Amendment even grants the right to not be part of a religion that you disagree with. So if you disagree with how the Catholic church marries people, then don’t be Catholic, if you disagree with how some conservative Evangelicals for only marrying opposite gender couples, then don’t join any conservative evangelical churches. Is it really that $%^&$% hard to understand! AFAIK, there’s one group that considers existence of religion a threat, the totalitarian regimes do. So why not go live in Saudi Arabia or Iran and see how life is like with them over in the Middle East!
