Justice Roberts revives an old argument that could save gay marriage
Yahoo Politics ^ | April 28, 2015 | Liz Goodwin

The gay rights movement has spent years trying to convince judges across the country that prohibiting same-sex marriage discriminates against gays and lesbians solely because of their sexual orientation.

But on Tuesday, a surprising question from Chief Justice John Roberts revived a very different legal strategy that the gay rights movement had all but abandoned.

Interesting. If I knew a straight woman (I too am a straight woman) and she was rich and I wasn't but I wanted to marry her to be financially secure for that reason only and not because either one of us are lesbians, I wouldn't be allowed to marry her because we are both women, and not for any other reason. Therefore, there is no "homophobia" discrimination involved.

John ‘the pirate’ Roberts was placed where he is to serve the globalist oligarchy destroying The Republic so the one world government can sweep in. Roberts is a man of the lowest character, pretending to uphold The Constitution while working his sneaky butt off to erase it. Men like Roberts are the enemy within the gates.

Roberts, Kennedy, Ginsburg, and Sotomayor are all poison on this country. Roberts being a collosal disappointment on top of that.

He’s not a disappointment. He’s just what Bush expected.

Mt 19:4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made [them] at the beginning made them male and female,
Mt 19:5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?
Mt 19:6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

You are absolutely correct.

They cannot fully implement their one world government as long as the USA is strong and sovereign.

Our military is no longer used for the defense of the United States. It is now a tool of the new world order to protect their interests while they further their agenda.

Aren’t these the same people who gave us legal abortion. The procedure, a woman killing her own baby by dismemberment, by choice or pressure from circumstances, barbaric passive aggressive controlling boyfriend/husband or parents which makes us, after 55million abortions worse as a country than ISIS, who st least keeps the beheadings to strangers and not their own flesh

Same people who stated blacks were less than human

They think they’re God I guess

Ugh. My husband has joked that if any billionaire lesbian wanted to marry me, he’d divorce me as long as I shared the money and would still live with him.

Now his joke could be the grounds for the fool Roberts to support gay marriage? (Gender) Surreal times we live in.

He likes quiche, it figures he would want to save gay marriage.

Here's a picture of him and his "friends", he's on the right.

ANYONE that supports HOMOSEXUALS is an ANTI CHRIST !

TO TOLERATE HOMOSEXUALS IS EVIL.
This is what we get when we FAIL to OBEY God.
For it is written: Those who support homosexuals are against our Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ.
These anti Christ people only bring destruction on us ALL.
I have NO sympathy for homosexuals!

Homosexuality is a "Mark" of disobedience.
Someone once asked The answer is in the definition of "REPROBATE". And the reason"why" is given in the Bible.

God has a cure for homosexuals.

"Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect
that God is just,
that his justice cannot sleep forever."

Roberts question doesn't prove anything either way.

It can be used as a predicate for supporting gay marriage or for opposing it. The argument doesn't fundamentally turn on the question of whether the ban is enforced because of sexual orientation, but on a constitutional question which asks: may the state restrict who may enter into a contract?

If the state cannot do that, then there is no basis on which to ban "marriages" involving multiple partners, blood relatives, or even "marriages" between people and corporations. The question has never been called before, because it is remarkably stupid. Accepting the answer that homosexuals want would sweep away any contractual regulation as "discriminatory."

I think it is a strong argument in court.

The denial of the marriage license being based on sex, and not sexual orientation.

“I have been denied a marriage license because I am female”

Would be a strong complaint for a female denied the license to marry another female, imo.

Personally, I don’t care anymore. The meaning of “marriage” was lost long ago.

Probably. But they haven’t achieved that yet so it wouldn’t work right now. The purging of good flag officers continues and there are more and more dupes replacing and filling the slots.

They’re demoralizing the military so many good people are getting out. Most of the ones that stay in because they don’t care about the social engineering will make good “yes” men.

Bush expected the woman he first nominated to be a genuine candidate. Can’t even remember her name now. White House counsel - something like that.

I was taught that marriage is both a legal construct and a “spiritual” matter.

I would say the US government can only deal with the legal issues.

Legally can a 6 year old girl marry a 40 year old man?

not in the US

Is that “age” discrimination? I don’t think so ....its merely the parameters of the law

Is there a lawyer in the house?

Just for the record. As a practicing catholic my views on homosexuality are as such, which are briefly but thoroughly (uncomplicately)stated in the catechism and are a blend of, in culture, don’t ask don’t tell and love voter dinner hate tge din, which is not necessarily catholic

But Roman Catholicism which Roberts (pirate) states he is, does not allow for such dissolution of the family

We should not have to be having this discussion

We pleaded with w to abandon Harriet Myers for THIS? W better be paring with us. This destruction of the family will never go over well

Watch this be a repeat of Obamacare. That little bitch Roberts will talk himself into a BS reason why gay marriage is a constitutional right, the wishy washy Kennedy will pen the dissent.

Bush appointed Alito too.

I hate Bush but I’m not gonna blame him, everyone loved the pick at the time.
