Even if so re the knife-— that would mean that after cops finally caught Gray & found the knife, they mistakenly thought it was an illegal weapon.
BUT prior to that-—Mosby said that cops were on bike patrol. They “made eye contact” with Gray. He fled and they pursued on foot to catch him. They caught him.
Cops had 0 probable cause. He wasn’t flashing his knife; he wasn’t threatening cops. Cops didn’t even say they shouted at him to stop. Gray made eye contact with them & he ran.
None of what Gray did constitutes probable cause.
That is a problem from the get-go.
Because Federal Police are so much nicer.
But why run from the cops?
What? No LifeLock, Rush Revere, or Tea segments? On the rare occasion I’m able to listen in, that’s all I hear (plus golf).

Making eye contact with cops and then running is not a crime...or even probable cause. It’s just a move not recommended.
The arresting cops didn’t even say they ordered him to stop.
Yep, that is why any court case will go out of Baltimore.

This is the first day I have ever looked into what led to Gray’s arrest. It was the riots-—the shipped-in agitators, the standdown-—that got my attention.

Mosby also said that when the cops caught him, Gray said he couldn’t breathe and asked for an inhaler.
