Those bombers were not in our space and we do the same thing for maneuvers in their region.

“Putin is testing NATO and America’s resolve.”

That may be true, but Finland is not a member of NATO.

We don’t know if Finland aimed at a real Russian sub, or made a display.

My B-I-L was in the Norwegian Navy back in the early 80’s and he told me they found Soviet subs hiding in the fjords al the time. Usually the sub would move on once they were detected. No fuss, no muss.

“Those bombers were not in our space and we do the same thing for maneuvers in their region.”

No, that is a false statement. We have specific procedures to test their air defense systems, but those procedures preclude the very kinds of provocative actions we see the Russian aircraft and submarines are presently using. We especially do not risk mid-air collisions in busy air traffic corridors with out transponders turned off in the way we see the Russians doing. The Russian actions are unusually provocative and dangerous, hence NATO descriptions of unprofessional Russian conduct.
