Sheriff Clarke: Charge against cops a 'miscarriage of justice'
The Daily Caller ^ | 5-1-15 | Alex Griswold

In an interview with Fox News’ “Your World with Neil Cavuto,” Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke dismissed the charges against six Baltimore police officers in the death of African-American man Freddie Grey as “political justice” and “a miscarriage of justice.”

CLARKE: It’s a miscarriage of justice. This neophyte prosecutor stood up there and made a political statement, Neil, and I say that because she chanting or voicing some of the chants from this angry mob. Her job is to tune that out. She said, ‘I hear the voices.’ She is not supposed to hear anything as she reviews this case that is not consistent with the rule of law and our system of justice.

Look, I’m an experienced and a veteran homicide detective. I’ve had — I’ve participated in charging conferences. There’s no way I have ever gotten a criminal charge within 24 hours after taking over all the reports and evidence to a prosecutor. A prosecutor who is thorough needs several days to sift through hundreds of pages of reports, they usually want to interview some of the witnesses themselves in person, and they have to sift through all of the evidence, piece by piece, and they have to wait for some of the forensic evidence to conclude to come back.

And that’s why I say on a minimum, three to four days. She just got this case yesterday. This is political activism. She’ll never prove this beyond a reasonable doubt and I’m not going to silently stand by and watch my brother officers offered up as human sacrifices, thrown like red meat to an angry mob, just to appease this angry mob. 

How could he know what? He is just saying he has experience participating in charging conferences and this could not have been carefully reviewed.

Did she really say, “Our cause”? Isn’t she an officer of the court?

Sheriff Clarke is wrong here. From the DA's press conference:

Once alerted about this incident on April 13th, investigators from my police integrity unit were deployed to investigate the circumstances surrounding Mr. Gray’s apprehension. Over the course of our independent investigation in the untimely death of Mr. Gray, my team worked around the clock, 12- and 14-hour days, to canvas and interview dozens of witnesses, view numerous hours of video footage, repeatedly reviewed and listened to hours of police videotaped statements, surveyed the route, reviewed voluminous medical records, and we leveraged the information made available to us by the police department, the community and the family of Mr. Gray.

The findings of our comprehensive, thorough and independent investigation, coupled with the medical examiner’s determination that Mr. Gray’s death was a homicide, which we received today, has led us to believe that we have probable cause to file criminal charges.

The DA's office conducted their own investigation, and has been conducting that investigation for over two weeks.

She said “our” something. I don’t remember exactly. She definitely identified herself as one of the mob.

Another reason to stay out of the cities, if you’re smart. You can’t get justice there if you get trouble.

Sheriff Clarke is a very brave man. He may, however, soon lose his position. He speaks far too much truth for the powers that be to handle.

How could he know?

He is not declaring the accused innocent. He is saying that based on his years of experience there is no way a charge of murder can be submitted without spending days weighing the evidence and interviewing various parties. Also the Persecutor saying that she is listening to the yells of the mob is not particularly reassuring that the evidence is being cooly, or competently, reviewed.
So yes, I can understand why he is calling this a miscarriage of justice - due to the process.

When they came for George Zimmerman, the police didn't speak up, because he was only a "civilian".

Now, they're coming for the police...
