Ted Cruz ‘reached out to the Pentagon’ about martial law conspiracy theory
MSNBC ^ | May 2, 2015 | Emma Margolin

Depending on whom you ask, “Jade Helm 15” is either a domestic military training exercise or a covert operation for the federal government to take over the state of Texas – and 2016 presidential candidate Ted Cruz just became the latest Republican to fan the flames of the latter theory.

Speaking at the South Carolina Republican Party’s annual convention Saturday, the Texas senator told Bloomberg’s David Weigel that his office had contacted the Pentagon about the exercise, which officially consists of a series of training drills throughout the Southwest for about 1,200 special operations personnel, including Green Berets and Navy SEALs. Conspiracy theorists operating on the fringes of the conservative blogosphere, however, have other ideas about what the exercise, known as Jade Helm 15, is intended to do – such as implement martial law, seize Americans’ guns, and imprison political dissidents.

Rather than squash those theories outright, Cruz apparently decided it was better to be safe than sorry.

“My office has reached out to the Pentagon to inquire about this exercise,” he said. “We are assured it is a military training exercise. I have no reason to doubt those assurances, but I understand the reason for concern and uncertainty, because when the federal government has not demonstrated itself to be trustworthy in this administration, the natural consequence is that many citizens don’t trust what it is saying.”(continued)

You couldn’t possibly be suggesting a MAJOR could flip put on a jihadi bent? A MAJOR is highly trained and deserves utmost trust and respect.

That would be nut job level to suggest.

I don’t know you at all. I just believe that folks are looking for a reason to lash out. I don’t think the 15th iteration of a special forces drill is what “they” are going to choose as their mechanism.

Got it.

So, if 1,200 people can disrupt Texas, then 1,200 people - maybe half that number - can similarly disrupt Washington DC.

We’re on the same page now. Hell, you’re more right than you realize. One sniper - John Allen Muhammad - caused chaos back in 2003.

G’night.

The way it works is they receive information about a given mission. They can be told by their commanders that a certain domestic group is comprised of terrorists or something along those lines.

In other words, they will fire on citizens when given orders based on lies. At least in the beginning. If they get a chance to figure out the politics behind it, most special ops and other troops would likely stand down of their own accord.

Well, I guess you disrespect the uniform. That’s cool. Good to know. As they say, you don’t salute the man, but the rank.

Does anyone wonder why so much old school brass has been purged? Why certain heli’s just happened to lose a game of tag with a bunch of SEALS on board? Why ROEs in the sandbox got so many GOOD men killed?

The Senator's constituents have some concerns; the Senator follows upon those concerns, and for that; he LOSES your vote???

It's official, folks...the estrogen in the water or the chemtrails or whatever have finally pushed those Red Englanders right around the damn bend. Wall them off and throw away the key before any more of them get loose. Seriously.

If you are seriously asking, the answer too makes sense. They choose west Texas because the terrain and environment is similar to the Middle East. That area also has wide swaths of private land that was leased for the exercise. Finally, the locations are within reasonable distances from existing bases so logistics will be easier.

Does that sound reasonable? I think it does.

They have been holding these on military reservations the last fourteen times. north And South Carolina are nice places, but they are not like the Middle East.

However, I put NOTHING past the 0bama Administration and all of its bots.

If you wanted ME environment, you don’t go to Texas. you go to Arizona or Nevada. Because last I checked, Texas and Afghan were on opposite ends of the mountain spectrum.
