Washington (AFP) - The group behind the Prophet Mohammed cartoon event in Texas where police killed two gunmen Sunday has a history of making provocative statements about Islam that it says are aimed at defending "freedom" and critics see as antagonizing Muslims.
The American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI), led by provocative activist Pamela Geller, offered a $10,000 prize in a competition to draw a cartoon of the Prophet Mohammed. Depicting the Prophet Mohammed is seen as offensive by many Muslims. Such satirical images have prompted violence in the past including in Paris this year when 12 people were gunned down by Islamists at the satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo.
Two gunmen who have yet to be identified were killed by police outside the event after opening fire on a security guard. AFDI supporters say the event was meant to protect the freedom of speech in the United States, which they say is eroding due to violent threats by radicals against people who draw the Prophet Mohammed.
"This is not an anti-Muslim or hate fest or anything like that, it's absurd to even think that way," said group supporter and activist Tom Trento in a video filmed at the competition in Garland, Texas near Dallas...

Jesus Christ is coming back to rescue those who are "of the truth" prior to His judgement on the world for its unrighteousness. How can one be "of the truth"? Jesus Christ IS THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE. All that is required to be of the truth is to believe (and confess) that Jesus Christ is Lord, and that God raised Him from the dead (the truth) and to say what He says about sin, and unrighteousness, and truth.

Uh, the group has a history of publicizing direct quotes from the Koran and from Arab based media sources. Only in the Bizzaro World of the Liberal PC Western Media does that mean that the group is making "provocative" statements.

I wish one person who is putatively “on our side” would make these morons explain why elephant dung on a depiction of Mary and other blasphemous depictions of Christianity got their full-throated support, they laughed it all off and voiced full support of freedom of speech for these, while they’re now blaming people for “incitement” who are doing much less “offensive” things with depictions of the pedophile “prophet”. Pin them down until they have to admit that there is a difference in the way Christians react, from Muslims.
This is the same crap heard in the 1930s regarding “antagonizing” Hitler. Comedians and filmmakers were cautioned not to make too much fun of Der Fuehrer. Fortunately, most Americans ignored that advice. Not so sure what the Europeans did. Probably caved.

but the Christian pizza shop owners deserved to be pursued and punished.
Because they don’t want to admit (and no one on our side will back them into the corner to force them to admit) that there’s a difference in response, as opposed to the meme they’ve pushing about “the religion of peace” all these years.
The “critics” are calling for Americans to censor themselves. Needless to say, the “critics” are calling for Americans to live, “voluntarily,” under Sharia Law.
I hope Pamela Geller packs all the time and makes regular trips to the range.
Savage mentioned minutes ago how the left giggled when the crucifix in a jar of urine was displayed in a New York museum, but christians didn’t shoot up the place with AK’s. The left ‘provokes’ daily. It’s their stock-in-trade.
