In the wake of the terror attack on Pamela Geller’s Mohammed cartoon contest and free speech conference, the media are ramping up their mantra that caveats come with free speech. They don’t seem to realize that free speech with caveats is no longer free speech.
One journalist after another after another has pounded away about the need to be sensitive to others (“others” = Muslims) and not to do anything that might offend (“offend” = violence). Watching this cascade of sheer media madness has been like witnessing a hazardous waste site from a toxic explosion, belching globs of dhimmitude and accusations of fauxslamophobia. The relentlessness of the attack has been shocking along with the hubris these journalists appear to possess, as if the long arm of Islam will not touch their lives in unthinkable ways.

n addition to Pamela Geller, Robert Spencer is also taking a lot of heat, as evidenced during an interview on CNN, where Spencer was accused of setting bait and wanting violence.
Spencer also appeared on MidPoint, Newsmax TV, where the journalist started out with this statement: “There’s a fine line to be drawn between making a political statement and inciting someone to start breaking out the rifles and taking shots.”

He or she who refuses to defend the right of free speech should themselves forfeit the right to free speech.

The liberals are inconsistent and not intellectually honest in their view of this.
In the case of “Piss Christ” or the Virgin Mary covered in dung, we are told that we need to understand about freedom of speech/freedom of expression, and the fact that people of faith are deeply offended by these depictions does not matter. What matters is the freedom to create “art” even if people of faith are offended.
But in the case of Mohammed cartoons, the liberals view it differently. In this case, the liberals say that we need to be sensitive to Islam, and not create “art” which adherents of Islam will be offended by. The concepts of freedom of speech or freedom of expression, even expression found offensive, is not a factor to liberals in this case.
Hustler magazine is 1st Amendment protected speech too. So is Klan cross-burning. Nice company she keeps.
But feel free to put a crucifix in a jug of urine for an art show, by all means.
It’s pretty offensive to muslims to see a woman outside not wearing a hijab or burka, with bare legs to boot! In muslim countries that can lead to a beating, especially if the woman is unaccompanied.
It’s also provoacative to serve haram foods in a restaurant.
And don’t forget how offensive it is to not be muslim.
Charlie Hebdo stands solidly for free expression. The West must do no less.
She’s offending all Muslims in the hope of inciting the most radical ones to react with a terroristic response. SUCCESS!
Liberals feel it is ok to create something like “Piss Christ” which is deeply offensive to Christians. But liberals inconsistently do not apply the same standard to anything offensive to Muslims.

I wonder if they will understand when ISIS comes and attacks their Green Initiative meeting?
