What's the answer to the question? Why do people do this? (interruption) Okay, exactly right. Matt Drudge has a knack. Matt Drudge happens to find whatever there is anywhere, and if he's interested in it, he links to it, and he benefits from the fact that whatever he's interested in, a majority of Americans are, too. He has a knack. He has a touch for this. The idea that he has no competitors? Here you have a failing mainstream media. You have a mainstream media losing...I mean, they are hemorrhaging ad dollars. They are hemorrhaging audience, both broadcast and print. CNN doesn't have an audience. MSNBC doesn't have an audience and hasn't had in a long time. TIME Magazine and the New York Times are hemorrhaging advertisers. The number of pages in both publications is declining. What does it say that millions of Americans only have one place to go to find things they really want to know? If you're at CNN or if you are at the New York Times or if you are at the LA Times, or if you are anywhere and you're sitting out there wringing your hands over Drudge, have you ever thought about maybe emulating Drudge? Have you thought maybe the stuff you're doing is not interesting to people? Have you ever thought maybe the news you're giving people they don't care about and they don't trust? Drudge doesn't put his opinions up with anything. Now, you might say, "Well, he doesn't have to! We're finding out what Drudge cares about by what he links to, and Drudge is obviously a right-winger." I can't condone that. He's an equal-opportunity winger. Matt Drudge is a businessman. He loves clicks! He loves hits. He loves multiple hits, just like the media used to love big audiences. But they are more concerned about staying true to their ideology, which is the agenda of the Democrat Party.
Sen. Bentson, if John Fitzgerald Kennedy could rise from the grave at this moment, he would think that the Communists had taken over the Democrat Party.
“We are not afraid to entrust the American people with unpleasant facts, foreign ideas, alien philosophies, and competitive values. For a nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people.” John Fitzgerald Kennedy
RUSH: Now, the guy who wrote this: Brent Budowsky, a former “aide to former Sen. Lloyd Bentsen (D-Texas) and former Rep. Bill Alexander (D-Arkansas), who was then chief deputy majority whip of the House. He holds an LL.M. degree in international financial law from the London School of Economics”
Drudge is a aggregator of links..
Some titles may seem a bit souped up for mass consumption..
But he is not the author of anything he links you to.. He has a staff.. He is Hugh. He is Legend. Move over will smith.. And Hefner. ;-)
Having a lot of folks tip him off helps too.
Drudge is kinda like a sponsor supported FReerepublic except you can’t comment on the stories he posts. And then we go cut and paste the URL’s from various sites and wail away. LOL!
The author is not quite correct.
It is true that he doesn’t comment on the pieces he puts up directly, but he will often put stories together that basically comment on each other.
“he doesnt comment on the pieces he puts up directly, but he will often put stories together that basically comment on each other.”
Good, now apply it to the MSM.
Rush Is Right. Matt is the newsman all other should emulate. But most are democrats so that ain’t gonna happen.
Dan Quayle: My wife will be relieved to hear that.
(The best comeback never given.)
So, they want to regulate and ban link sites????
It is especially true concerning blogs and such, the titles of such have a headline and to get the clicks and coverage. Just look at the Daily Mail out how much over the past few years they have pushed that money.
I’ve always thought FreeRepublic was a better aggregator than Drudge. But I found my way to FreeRepublic through Drudge ;’)
Matt has his swirling, blinking FIRE ALARM, that alerts us about anything that’s really over the top. That is today’s equivalent of the Town Cryer standing in the Square, loudly shouting and ringing his bells.
LOL! Yup lots of aggregators here. And a few aggrivaters as well. And, we DO comment on the stories we post. I can’t remember how I stumbled on FR but I’m glad I did. Makes it easier for the nsa to keep track of me. :>}
I have always thought we needed a drudge sidebar.
Pretty well much. His headlines contain political commentary as well as some of the stock photography used.
Something like:
Newt Gingrich gets into trouble!
then a picture of Newt with his face buried in his hands from 6 years ago.
That *is* political commentary in another form.
man you got that right.. My first go to place after Drudge is FR. I check Drudge for just an idea of what’s going on .. and I check in here at FR to see what MY people think... and you folks are my people : conservatives... done and done.
