Students at Bangor Area High School in Pennsylvania were encouraged by the school’s Gay-Straight Alliance to wear rainbow-colored T-shirts on Friday of last week in support of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender issues.
Instead, two students wore Chick-fil-A T-shirts. Suspensions followed on Monday. But those who were suspended may surprise you:
[The school] suspended a group of students for using Twitter during school hours to call out two students wearing Chick-fil-A shirts during a Gay-Straight Alliance event, parents and students said.
The suspended students felt the T-shirts were offensive because of widely publicized comments the fast food company’s president and CEO, Dan Cathy, made in 2012 against gay marriage. The two students were part of a televised broadcast of the school’s daily announcements. Offended students took to Twitter to express their thoughts, with the tweets against the two students continuing over the weekend.
One student tweeted to another who had criticized one of the students who wore the shirts:
“You’re expressing your feelings … Why can’t he?” The response:
“Being an offensive [expletive] is not expressing your feelings.” One of the suspended students tweeted:
“Shout-out to the [expletive] in the Chik-fil-A shirts.” The mother of the that suspended student weighed in with her opinion as well:
“You want to encourage everyone to be their own person, and for someone to decide it’s OK for those two students to go on a morning show and wear a shirt like that with no repercussions, what is the school saying? That it’s OK?” Perhaps the school was saying those students had every right, under the First Amendment, to wear the shirts?
Now the American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania is investigating the suspensions, calling them a “pretty harsh punishment.”
So, who was right and who was wrong here? The students who wore the Chick-fil-A T-shirts? The students who harassed them throughout the weekend? Bangor Area High School for suspending the harassers?

They suspended kids in Morgan Hill for wearing American Flag t shirts on cinco de mayo, took it to supreme court and the American students lost. Truth has fallen in the streets.

I don’t think the school had the right to suspend anyone. If those kids were awful on twitter then the kids their hatred was aimed at need to sue for libel or something or if the law thinks that this is more than stupid words then they ought to charge them with a crime but they didn’t do it at school or even in person, the little twits.
The pushback is going to be a mother.
Social Programming is not a requirement of a real education.

If I were in HS I wouldn’t have time for the LGTBNORSOWXYZ group as I would be busy doing school work, playing sports, attending Young Republican meetings and taking advantage of the Catholic Youth Organizations game/prayer room.

1. Homosexuals put homosexuality on display and want everyone to accept and convert to believing it is okay to engage in the immoral and filthy practice. Anyone who opposes must be silenced.
2. Muslims have very specific religious-based laws they want to force everyone else to accept. When someone criticizes or refuses to follow their dictates, even when the islamic religion is practiced by a small percent of the population, muslims savagely oppose and/or kill anyone who opposes any teaching they have or refuses to practice THEIR law (sharia). Anyone who points out the hypocrisy in any form or fashion is vilified, persecuted or attempts at assassination are made.
3. In our political arena, the Democrat Party is making an extreme effort to get control of the power structure at all levels in order to do the same thing...silence any and all opposition. No telling what kind of evil THEY have in mind for us. I experienced their efforts in the public schools and the effect is horrifying as the public schools are turning out woefully ignorant people into society. Only a small percentage of students, usually with wonderful parents, are able to excel. It certainly doesn't appear it is going to be a positive thing in the long run.
We are entering a period of history characterized by sheer violence EVERYWHERE which is EXACTLY what preceded the great flood and God nearly ended all human existence. We're probably ripe for the Second Coming when He is REALLY going to settle all accounts.

It does not appear that it was a school sanctioned LGBT Day, but rather some students asking other students to wear rainbow colors on one day.
No different than asking students to wear Philadelphia Eagles colors to school.
Plus how long does this whole FR addiction thing last? two weeks on it, and get the shakes if I have to miss an article or cant get my two cents in.
At first I skipped a tv show here and there. Then a shave occasionally. Then a shower now and then. Then a days work. Then Jury duty. Now I don’t shower at all. My body has become part of the couch. Courts called and babbled something about a warrant out for me.
Fiancé left me. I think. :)

I liked the days when kids did what they wanted and settled things mostly on their own. Occasionally, there would be a fight, and the teachers would let it go a bit, but make sure that no one really got hurt.
If someone was doing something stupid, you got detention and a note home or suspension.
Of course today, the cops need to come and there’s a lawsuit.
Here in the Seattle area there are two and the traffic congestion of people wanting to get into them has the cops directing traffic. There are so many cars .... the city is making traffic lanes for them. The stores are overwhelmed with people buying ...
