Elizabeth Warren fires back at Obama: Here’s what they’re really fighting about[TPP]
The Washington Post ^ | 11 May 2015 | Greg Sargent

THE PLUM LINE: What’s your response to the latest from President Obama?

SENATOR WARREN: The president said in his Nike speech that he’s confident that when people read the agreement for themselves, that they’ll see it’s a great deal. But the president won’t actually let people read the agreement for themselves. It’s classified.

PLUM LINE: But don’t you get 60 days to review it after the deal is finalized, with the authority to revoke fast track?

WARREN: The president has committed only to letting the public see this deal after Congress votes to authorize fast track. At that point it will be impossible for us to amend the agreement or to block any part of it without tanking the whole TPP. The TPP is basically done. If the president is so confident it’s a good deal, he should declassify the text and let people see it before asking Congress to tie its hands on fixing it.

PLUM LINE: Doesn’t the current framework allow for the revocation of fast track authority?

WARREN: The whole point about fast track is to grease the skids so that 51 votes will get it through…it takes a majority to get rid of [fast track].

PLUM LINE: The push-back from the administration is that the ISDS will be written in such a way that there is no authority to override Congressional [and other countries’] regulations.

WARREN: If the president has changed ISDS to solve the problem, then the text should be released so that legal experts can look at it.

WARREN: The president has committed only to letting the public see this deal after Congress votes to authorize fast track.

Some were surprised that Congressman Tom McClintock came out in favor of this deal. He had a heated exchange with Laura Ingraham this morning and said repeatedly that Congress and the public would have the 60 days to review the agreement before Congress voted. He became very heated in insisting that was the case.

Well. either McClintock or Warren is wrong on this one. Based on Obama's past behavior, Warren might be right. But there are definitely opposing understandings out there about the 60 day review period.

But, actually, it would seem that Congress should be in the driver's seat on allowing the 60 days review before the congressional vote. And we would have the fearless Boner and McConnell making that decision.

Everyone knows that the Muslim traitior will be far away visting or living in another enemy when Iran hands over nukes to ISIS to detonate them on U.S. soil. The irony is that the progressives who rooted for this will only know they were wrong for a split second after they see the flash...

So true. Liberals also live in places where attacks and bombs will be thrown most probably. They aren’t a very smart group that is for sure. Glad that they don’t procreate.

Warren and McClintock might be in agreement after all, at least on when the 60 day review would be allowed.

Warren says that Obama will only allow the agreement to be reviewed publicly after fast track authority is passed, and that is something she objects to strongly.

McClintock says the same thing, but acts as if it is a fair opportunity for the public and Congress to review the TPP after Obama is given fast track authority.

Have to go with Warren on this one.

http://www.arktimes.com/ArkansasBlog/archives/2015/05/11/on-trans-pacific-partnership-huckabee-is-to-left-of-obama

“Let’s start the work week with mention of an issue that pits Barack Obama and Ted Cruz against Elizabeth Warren and Mike Huckabee. That would be the Trans-Pacific Partnership.”

“But although most of the presumptive Republican presidential candidates — Cruz included — are on board with expanding Obama’s dictatorial reach whenever it serves the interests of the Chamber of Commerce to do so, Mike Huckabee recently told NBC that he is not.”

Unfortunately she is a dishonest person.

She attacks banks because they foreclose on mortgages yet she made millions flipping those foreclosed houses.

“The Terrorism Risk Insurance Act (TRIA) (Pub.L. 107–297) is a United States federal law signed into law by President George W. Bush on November 26, 2002.”

Theoria, I don’t know enough about this to ask him. : )
