Background info.

Chief Justice in Wisconsin was determined by seniority. There was a proposed amendment to the state constitution to change that to an election by the judges, and that amendment passed in a general election a few weeks back. Once the sec of state finalized the general election, the supreme court held an election and picked someone else.

The court is 4/3 conservative/liberal. The old chief justice was one of the liberals. The new is conservative.

The only valid complaint the old chief justice has is there is a pay boost of something like 10k/year for the chief justice, and she feels that she should not lose pay due to a general election, and therefore should remain cjief justice until her 10 year term is up (in something like 6-8 years).

I think that is the basis for her court challenge.
