I can afford a smart phone, but I don’t have one because it’s not worth the price to me. I have a regular phone that does voice/text and that’s it. That is enough.
When FedGov takes our money (by force or threat of force) to buy goodies for people who are not willing to work as hard as we have worked, that bothers normal, productive people. When FedGov bureaucrats then buy better stuff for the parasites than we are willing to buy for ourselves, the Head Thug should not be surprised when people like us resent his generosity with the money he stole from us.
Not all poor people are lazy, undeserving, sponges and leeches. But all people who accept more than they need, paid for by others, are lazy, undeserving, sponges and leeches - and that is milder than what I really think. Welfare is something that good people should be embarrassed to accept. I can understand and tolerate those on public assistance accepting a “free” phone so they can be contacted by employers for a job, but taking more than they absolutely need is pure theft.

gotta tell ya... I got an email promo from Dick’s Sporting Goods this morning... 20% off online purchases today only...okay, I hit a lot of golf balls into the water this past weekend, so I open it up. One of the banner ads inside says “shoe calendar”.
What the hell is this? So I click it open, and it’s a basketball shoes release dates/price list.
100 bucks doesn’t even buy the Kyrie Irvins ($109), much less the Lebrons ($174) or the Jordans ($244— and they have both “home” and “away” versions of the Jordans so the kids can shell out 500 bucks by the time they’re done...). What a freakin racket. All the way around.

Same experience here. I once stood in line waiting to pay at the local Dominick's grocery store behind a black woman with three unruly kids.
She was yakking on the phone to one of her baby daddy's the entire time. Everything on the conveyer in front of me was food I cannot afford to buy. Yes, she paid with EBT cards.
Her phone? The latest iPhone.
After she checked out, I paid for the four things I put on the conveyer, then left the store. As "luck" would have it she was parked down the same aisle I was. Out comes her key chain then "honk honk honk!" she goes to the back of a Cadillac Escalade (brand new, "license applied for") and the hatch automatically opens.
I fumed.
I work for a living. I bust my ass to take care of my family. I paid for her groceries, her iphone and her Cadillac Escalade.
My phone? A $79 blackberry knock-off. My phone plan? A pay as you go purchase the minutes upfront. My vehicle? A 13 year old GMC Envoy.
Why am I bothering to work and take care of my family instead of getting on the government welfare rolls getting my free food, free obamaphone and free caddy??
The ingenious thing about what Obama has done is that he has only passed one new entitlement program through the Congress (Obamacare). But he has been playing fast and loose with the eligibility requirements for all of the others (LIHEAP, SNAP, Obamaphones), allowing him to buy MASSIVE amounts of votes with programs that were up and running under George W. Bush.
I agree with Obuttboy. A better word is "parasites".
