The engineer in control of the Amtrak train that derailed on Tuesday, killing at least seven people, has no recollection of the moment the train crashed, his attorney has said.
Brandon Bostian, of Queens, New York, has been as the driver of the commuter service that came off the tracks near Philadelphia, leaving 200 people hospitalized.
On Wednesday, National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) investigators confirmed that the train had been traveling at 106 mph before it derailed at a curve on the tracks, where the speed limit is 50 mph.
Bostian, who has been an engineer with Amtrak since 2009, was interviewed by the police over six hours, had a blood sample taken and has handed his cell phone over to authorities.

Whether he’s gay or not has no bearing on this accident. And in a situation like this he is wise to have an attorney especially since he has already been tried and convicted in the media.
Maybe he had just gotten a ‘Dear Bruce’ letter and decided to end it.
It’s actually pretty believable, if he hit his head in the derailment, that his short term memory would basically have been erased for the minutes leading up to the crash. That said, what the hell was he doing? How do you go 110, driving a train, where the limit is 50? prison
The train left Philidelphia on time, to the minute. For Amtrak, that’s amazing!
Actually, yes it will - his lawyers will claim this persecution is all about his “lifestyle choice”, and how anyone who accuses him are homophobes...

It may not have been an error.
Facts don’t necessarily equal truth - not to mention that correlation is not causation.
Just because the Amtrak CEO was appointed by Obama and that Amtrak’s policies include diversity training cannot lead one to the conclusion that those ‘facts’ resulted in a Target cashier becoming a ‘death-train’ engineer.
Did it happen? Yes.
Can you state that it was the result of the ‘causes’?
No.
Oh, one other thing - have you always worked in the same industry that you’re in today? I know that I haven’t. I shoveled snow, cut grass, delivered newspapers, was a parking lot attendant, and even (horrors!) worked at McDonald’s.

In light of Amtrak's gay "diversity and inclusion" policy and its taxpayer funded "Rise With Pride" campaign, whether or not he being gay helped him become an Amtrak engineer has every bearing on this accident.
Ah yes, the AMTRACK wreck. Why is no one asking the real question? WHY IS THE ENGINEER DRIVING WAY OVER THE SPEED LIMIT? Because his union is protecting him, we. or no one can ask him that question. The answer is very simple really. HE CAN DRIVE OVER THE SPEED LIMIT FOR THE SAME REASON THAT A DOG CAN LICK HIS BEHIND. HE CAN.

Planes have autopilots and warning systems - traveling in 3 dimensions. My 11 year old car has an adaptive cruise control that automatically adjusts to slow down if the traffic ahead is slower, and sounds an alarm with a visual warning if it “Driver Intervention Required” - brake harder or change lanes....
A train is travelling on a fixed path, the only variable for the engineer is speed. How the automation (that could have been in place years ago) has not made this type of accident impossible is beyond me.
