NATO head Jens Stoltenberg warned Monday that fighters from Islamic extremist groups may hide among the flood of migrants seeking refuge in Europe, increasing the need for an effective response.
Stoltenberg's comments came as he attended a meeting of EU foreign and defence ministers which was set to approve the bloc's plan for a naval operation to tackle people smugglers operating mainly out of Libya.
"First of all this is a human tragedy, people are losing their lives trying to cross the Mediterranean," Stoltenberg said when asked about reports ISIS was trying to smuggle fighters into Europe by hiding them on migrant boats.
"Of course one of the problems is that there might be foreign fighters, there might be terrorists trying to hide, trying to blend in among the migrants," he added.
"And this underlines the importance that we have to respond to this turmoil."
Western officials often use the term foreign fighters to describe people from Europe and the Middle East who have travelled to fight with ISIS in Iraq and Syria.

The migrants are a problem themselves. Terrorists will not destroy any Western nation yet, but the migrants will. Migrants who hate their host countries will destroy them, either by changing them, or dissolving them. We don’t need an overblown terror threat to show why unfettered immigration is deadly to the West.
Don’t see why the terrorists wouldn’t infiltrate Europe this way. It has worked really, really well for them here in the USA.

Nigel Farage, leader of UKIP, spoke in the European Parliament right before the UK elections the other week and laid out this threat.
Now the NATO leader sounds to me like he’s playing catchup and getting a lot of attention that Farage didn’t.
Any one remember the movie RED DAWN? Terrorist got in through illegal immigration and the movie ended in WW3.
Maybe if they all sing “We Are The World” it will keep the terrorists out.
Has any nation in the history of civilization ever survived unless it controlled who lived within its borders?
It’s a good thing our borders are safe from this kind of terrorism!!! Oh! wait!!!
