I Apologize for Yesterday's 3rd Hour
Rush Limbaugh.com ^ | May 20, 2015 | Rush Limbaugh

Posted on 05/20/2015 3:35:53 PM PDT by Kaslin

RUSH: Ladies and gentlemen, before we get going here today, I really, really need to offer you a sincere apology for the last hour of the program yesterday. I mean, it was an absolute bomb, and it was because for the first time in I don't know how many years, I abandoned totally my professionalism, and I allowed myself to be totally distracted by a bunch of stuff that was happening that had nothing to do with the program, off the air stuff.

I even alluded to it a couple of times during the program, but the bottom line is that I ended up being distracted, and I don't remember very much of the last hour of that program, and that means it wasn't very noteworthy if I don't remember it. You know, I do this every day, the only measure that I have of this program each day is, you know, when I say meeting and surpassing all audience expectations, I sincerely mean that. This program has always been for the audience. It's never been for the media. It has never been for buzz or PR or hype. It's always been for the audience.

I'm very empathetic in relating to you and imagining how you are hearing the program. And if you thought yesterday's last hour was an abomination, I would have to agree with you. The great thing is in this business there's always tomorrow. When you do one of these programs every day, there's always tomorrow. Tomorrow is now here. Snerdley said, "It was a great hour. You don't need to --" It was not a great hour. I'm telling you it was not a great hour. (interruption) "The only thing wrong was it wasn't long enough." Don't give me that.

Look, you know, I had these two stories on women, that Mad Men story. I mean, I just went through the motions. I might as well have not even done those two stories because I added nothing to it. Anybody can do what I did. I just read because I was so mad. You do not know how mad I was, and it's rare that I allow this to happen. I'm able to compartmentalize and, you know, put everything out of my mind for these three hours and then join the drudgery afterwards. But it overcame me yesterday, and even if you didn't know -- and I doubt that you didn't. I mean, it was so bad, you had to know based on comparisons of previous programs and what you expected, it was bad.

So I've been waiting all day for this hour to start here so I could apologize to you. I will never, ever -- I mean, yesterday was the equivalent of phoning it in. But it was even worse than that 'cause I was going through the motions of trying. Phoning it in, you don't even try. But I was going through the motions of trying in the third hour. I just was unable to overcome these distractions.

Thats just one of his things how he pokes fun at liberals because they, like, literally, cant talk right.

I love the nuance and depth of his sarcastic wit.

Last few times I tuned in he was talking deflate gate and other useless crap...

Does he do the major issues that affect us any more?

I ask honestly, I just can’t get all that interested in his show any more.

Um.... you don't get it. It is meant to be an exaggeration.

“I literally died from embarrassment!”
“I literally fell overboard when I heard the news about Aunt Martha!”
“I literally thought I went to heaven when I tasted that blueberry pie!”

No one forces you to.

I don't listen to Rush either, but then I don't listen to any talk show and I don't bitch about it.

The word “nearly” conveys the exaggeration without using a word to mean the opposite of its conventional meaning.

I haven’t listened to him in probably a year, just boring with no real analysis or info I hadn’t already read online from the same sources he uses. Still not totally unlistenable like idiot Hannity.

After it's safe to do so. He waits until he sees which way the wind blows and then chimes in. Don't jump to conclusions here, I've been a faithful Rush listener for over 20 years, but he's not on the "cutting edge" anymore. He's not.

I understand very well he is trying to emphasize, underscore, or even exaggerate, as you stated.

Words MEAN things, as Rush would say, I believe.

He’s using the word incorrectly.

This is not like the jerk who once fired Rush, claiming it was because Rush used the word, “therefore”, a word the PM simply didn’t like. Then, Rush was using the word correctly.

Let’s say my intent is to exaggerate:

“That ho-ho was so good that it TRASMISSIONED my mind..!”

Would it be right? No, because the meaning of the word “transmission” doesn’t fit there.

And LITERALLY doesn’t carry the meaning that Rush is groping for in the cases he’s using it—it’s just that so many idiots use it that way that it has ended up influencing him.

"He was having a major email server problem"

But-but-but-but (a little Chris Wallace lingo here), that's impossible. He uses Compusave (or whatever he calls it as he hawks it incessantly during show time), and that GUARANTEES that you will never lose a single bit of anything. He must be mistaken on this. He's either lying that he uses it, or it doesn't work as well as he says.

Interesting. You know...I hadn’t considered that, and I think it’s POSSIBLE you are right.

Rush sometimes plays subtle spoofs like this, from time to time.

Hmm....good thinking.

I think Sean Hannity is the worst offender re: literally and he’s got a good Catholic education he should know better. I always remember the time he said he knew many small business owners who worked themselves to death, literally!

Rush - you never have to ask forgiveness... You’re attacked almost daily by the left - yet you stay professional and cheerful. God only knows how you do that...

<><><>

He’s got a net worth in the 400 million dollar range. I’m sure that helps put persepctive on his daily attacks from those who don’t care for him.

He’s stuck on “strategery” though and that is getting old.

With a screen name that is "fungus" plural you are concerned about a parody on strategy?

I found Free Republic thanks to Rush. A freeper called in and plugged this website some time during the Clinton administration. Been here ever since! Thank you freeper, thank you Rush.

Sometimes Rush is really interesting but I listen either way.

I'm like the two old ladies in the restaurant "Everything is just terrible" "Yeah and the quantities are so small!".
