Zuckerberg Ally: Americans Losing Jobs To Foreigners: ‘This Is What...Whole Country Is Built On’
Daily Caller ^ | May 9, 2015 | Rachel Stoltzfoos

A venture capitalist associated with Mark Zuckerberg’s immigration lobbying group Fwd.us insulted American workers who lost their job to foreigners at a recent immigration event, saying they got what they deserved.

“You know, I’m relatively crude on that,” capitalist Lars Dalgaard said at the National Journal event that was partly sponsored by Fwd.us, which lobbies for more legal immigration and a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants. “It’s like, if you want the job, make yourself able to get the job, you know?”

Dalgaard, who Fwd.us boasts is one of its “major contributors,” had been asked by the Journal’s Niharika Acharya to respond to concerns about hundreds of American workers who were recently fired by Southern California Edison and more or less forced to train their foreign replacements.

“Like, nobody’s going to hold you up and carry you around the world,” Dalgaard continued.

With all due respect, if you have dozens of positions which you cannot fill, I suggest that perhaps you do your fellow Freepers a favor and let them in on these jobs...There are many people hurting that could use a good job and are not finding it so easy...or tell them what their kids should study so that they can find a job in hours upon graduation from college.

I am sorry if I am so politically incorrect here on FR to say AMERICANS FIRST, but that is how I feel. We should be making sure our citizens (especially vets) have the opportunities before recruiting all over the planet for H-1B visas.

As an aside, the University of Illinois, a very presigious and hence selective university, actually sent recruiters to China to recruit freshmen engineering students. They recruited several hundred—up from less than a hundred a few years ago. As an IL taxpayer who supports that school, I resent this— I think that at the very least, students from Illinois should be getting first crack at those slots in the classroom and did not...better yet, students from the US. I know of students were were not accepted—and it didn’t have to do with being qualified....Don’t even get me started on the issue of foreign birth tourism industry here...another competitive pressure on our students.

Sorry, IMHO the deck seems to be increasingly stacked against middle class US citizens. US citizens have paid their dues and should be at the head of the line.

Not going to happen as that is not what the Gobalists are planning and doing with their program for international flow of cheap “labor”.....and better positions the youth of today's attitudes and failure to excel in studies makes them ill prepared above foreign applicants. Sad to say but our educational system has failed as well as the students themselves. Ask anyone recruting and they'll tell you.

Well, I have read that many kids have poor attitudes and are not prepared, but I know that my kids went to a very competitive high school and were very well prepared and they were not finding jobs in hours. Actually, the one with a B.S. had the easiest time fining job in their field.

Interestingly, my PhD ChemE had the hardest time of all. One doesn’t get a PhD in Chemical Engineering failing to excel or having a bad attitude. Tough job market in his particular area of interest and I suspect a lot of foreign competition....

Wow! Thanks for posting.
That is an eye-opening list...
I had NO IDEA so many types of positions could be impacted :(

As an aside, I believe Obama signed some sort of executive order granting preferred visa status to spouses of H-1B Visas. Another blow to the middle class.

The deck is not stacked. We get 5 applicants for $98k jobs, 4 of which are people needing sponsorship.

To understand, you need look no further than the nation's colleges in their STEM programs. They're all foreigners, thus that's what is out there.

Sorry, you have not changed my mind about deck being stacked....

Your particular area and firm might be an exception or a rule...I don’t know, altho there were some studies and articles linked in this post and various others that refute some of your examples...

I would agree with you that our universities are filled with foreign students in the Engineering and IT departments....I have a huge problem with that...As I noted in the post you referenced,#101, that the University of Illinois is actually going to China to recruit engineering students....Those slots could and should be filled first by US taxpaying students....from Illinois.

I do believe that their needs to be more of an effort to recruit students in to math and sciences, tho it would be helpful if there were well paying jobs awaiting them upon graduation.

As far as 5 applicants for the $98,000 job with 4 being foreigners, I believe companies should HIRE US CITIZENS FIRST...Sorry if people disagree, but I believe US Citizens have paid their dues and should get first crack—as is done in most other countries,

Eh, but I do want to thank you for your input...good to debate, and I am glad that your area of country and industry is doing well.

Wish some unemployed US citizens could find work as easy as your applicants.

Anyway, thanks again.
