You can’t help the mentally ill. Putting them in institutions and so forth decreases the number of homeless. The left will never stand for that, since they need to point at the homeless as “proof” of how bad conservative policies are.

The last bill that JFK signed was to empty the mental hospitals.
It took a few years for the actual emptying of the hospitals and the inability to commit someone to them, to start taking effect in America, but it eventually started showing up on our streets.

I was watching the movie "Amadeus" recently and one of the open scenes features a priest walking through a mental hospital.
Even in Mozart's time, they had mental illness!

It's worse than just crazy people living in cardboard boxes and dying in police custody. Liberals have the rest of us living in cages so bat**** crazies can roam free.

The Asian looks normal compared to those three. Bat-**** crazy comes to mind. Loughner and Holmes look comic book crazy, and Lanza looks retarded.

In any private sector non union business, employees are subject to discipline for screwing up. Repeatedly screwing up results in getting fired.
But not in law enforcement. There is no accountability. If any punishment is doled out the taxpayer is on the hook while the screwups get off scot free.
When the agents of the government are involved in the death of a person some discipline is required. Just like the private sector employees deal with. If a car I worked on had a wheel fall off, I would be fired. And rightly so.

We should reopen many of the old mental hospitals - and be careful liberals don’t fill them with the conservatives who they consider mentally ill, a la the Soviet Union labelling political dissidents as insane to avoid any pretense of trials and civil rights.

In all likelihood, all 4 of the killers in the photo posted by Sooth were/are demonically possessed. In many mental illness cases (but not all) demonic possession is present. However, we live in a society that no longer acknowledges evil, Satan, or his demons. This is just how Satan wanted it. I have seen, face to face, demonic possession.

A different kind though. Salieri was a bitter manipulative jerk, Mozart was a drunk nutjob. I enjoyed the movie though.

I have a son with Schizoaffective disorder (my other son is an AF pilot). As a result, my wife and I have been involved with NAMI for many years. My son is doing extremely well these days because he has a supportive, understanding EDUCATED family, and is engaged in the right kind of therapy and prescribed medications that are effective.
I am a teacher, as well as the State Program Director for NAMI's Family-to-Family 12-week family education course. It's an evidence-based program aimed at helping families understand their loved ones illness, learn how to get resources, and provides tools like problem solving and communication skills so they can more effectively help their loved one.
Having personally taught this course many times (currently teaching my 16th course) I have seen first-hand that people living with Mental Illness can very often be helped without the need to institutionalize them provided the family is educated about the illness and has access to the resources needed.

Oh wow, you just absolutely nailed this absolutely obscene political reality to the wall. Well said.
