SANTA CRUZ, Calif. -

Giving a special group of students a piece of the American dream. At 2.4 million, California has the highest number of undocumented immigrants in the country and leads the way in resources. But it's still falling behind when it comes to reaching students who are undocumented. NewsChannel 5's found out about a group of local educators being trained to help bridge the gap to college for these students.

Katiuska Pimentel carries a backpack and spends long hours at the U.C. Santa Cruz campus studying for midterms and finals. It's a typical life for most college students. But the path she took to get here is anything but typical.

"I'm undocumented and I'm not afraid to say that," Pimentel said.

But she said there's still a bigger unanswered question for students like Pimentel. Although she wants to become a lawyer one day, she still doesn’t have a Social Security number.

It's interesting in that when my son went off to one of the California universities he has to provide not only a Social Security Number but also his Selective Service Number. I guess illegals are exempt from that obligation.

"Undocumented" - this term makes is sounds as if they misplaced their documents.

I'd say they were foreign invaders intent on subjugating Americans - culturally, economically and politically.

How terrible. She’s getting a college education on someone else’s dime. I hope she can bear the burden long enough to graduate and become another communist politician.

Can you imagine being an illegal alien in North Korea and demanding a free college education? I can’t either.

California is now educating children of other countries, because those countries are so inferior and corrupt, with inefficient governments, and lazy and ignorant people that they cannot educate their own children.

The US tried for years to help these weak and worthless countries educate their children, but they would not or could not take advantage of the help. This means that as nations they are condemned to destruction.

So now the US will take their most motivated and determined children away from them and let these countries decay into peonages ruled by brutal dictators, until they die out as peoples.

She came on a tourist visa but when it expired, she stayed.
As did Mohammad Atta and his co-conspirators who killed 3,000 Americans. Good to know that they are keeping a closer watch on this now.
