Maddow Blasts Law Requiring Aurora Shooting Victim's Parents To Pay Gun Manufacturers

Maddow opened her show with heart-rending footage of the Aurora trial. She highlighted the testimony of Brenton Lowak, whose friend Jessica Ghawi -- a 24-year-old aspiring sports reporter -- died in the shooting.

The parents unsuccessfully sued the retailers who made the firearm that killed their daughter. Colorado state law requires that plaintiffs who sue the manufacturers of gun products pay the companies' legal fees if they lose.

“That’s not a typo,” Maddow said, adding, “The mother and father of the victim who died in the Aurora mass shooting have just been ordered to pay a quarter-million dollars to the gun makers who sold the bullets that were used in the Aurora mass shooting -- the parents of the girl who was killed.”

It might be worth the PR bump to waive the parents from paying, if that’s allowed.

Its like suing the silverware manufacturer for making the spoons that fed you too much...

And their attorney didn't counsel them that if they lost, they'd have to pick up the tab?

or i that law the one in the crosshairs, to free up frivolous lawsuits to bury legitimate businesses in legal fees?

Parents of theater shooting victim lose lawsuit against ammo sellers

The parents of a woman killed during the Aurora movie theater shooting lost their bid Friday to hold ammunition sellers liable for the attack.

Sandy and Lonnie Phillips, whose daughter, Jessica Ghawi, was one of 12 people killed in the July 2012 attack, had  sued four online retailers that provided bullets, gun magazines and body armor alleged to have been used in the shooting. They accused the retailers of selling the items  without concern about the mental fitness of the buyer or the items' intended use.

You stupid lesbian, the manufacturer had to spend a quarter million defending itself aganinst a BS lawsuit they surely would rather not have wanted to. Why should they not be compensated for wasted time and money?

This sort of law should be national.

IOW, they lost, and shouldn't have done the crime if they didn't want to do the time.

BTW, what's Partisan Media Shill Maddow's view about those of us forced to pay for abortions and white-privileged college-age whores' birthcontrol?

“The mother and father of the victim who died in the Aurora mass shooting have just been ordered to pay a quarter-million dollars to the gun makers who sold the bullets that were used in the Aurora mass shooting -- the parents of the girl who was killed.”

Maybe that'll leave a mark long enough to make them think twice before they file an ignorant lawsuit.

Good. They should have to pay for the frivilous lawsuit that they supported. It was always designed to chill the second amendment.

If they choose to misuse the judiciary in an attempt to tear down the Constitution, they should pay.

Why? that only encourages the left.

This is why florida and other states have self defense immunity laws.

This case was about deep pockets and killing the second amendment.

It should be filed under frivolous cases. The group that used the parents should be jointly and severly liable for the costs.
