Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Sen. Orrin Hatch may soon give the President authority to write gun control restrictions into a “trade agreement.” So click here to contact your Senators –- whether they are liberal or conservative. Urge them to vote against the anti-gun “fast track” bill (S. 995). Will UN-style gun control be rammed down our throats?

Gun import bans ... Microstamping of firearms ... Ammunition bans ... The full implementation of the anti-gun UN Arms Trade Treaty ... Illegal amnesty which locks in millions of new, anti-gun voters.

The Republicans are in danger of losing the Senate. That will be a hell of a situation when we have a chance of winning the White House.

It still has to be ratified and any nonsense like that isn’t going to go over too well in an election year.

I’ve been lurking here for a long, LONG time (more than a decade) but for the first time I finally felt compelled to register and speak up about this topic. There is so much misinformation being said about this trade bill that was passed (and voted on by Cruz) that I just couldn’t take it anymore.

First, free trade has been a conservative policy for the better part of half-a-century. Ronald Reagon while President once said “Our trade policy rests firmly on the foundation of free and open markets. I recognize … the inescapable conclusion that all of history has taught: The freer the flow of world trade, the stronger the tides of human progress and peace among nations.”.

Protectionism is a terrible policy that isolates your economy from the world and makes it stagnate. Apparently 90% of this forum were Perot voters who bought into his horse-shit. Nearly every one of his predictions about the effect of NAFTA on the economy turned out to be dead wrong, yet people still soak this garbage up. They live on lies to support their agenda. The only thing that hurts job growth in America is burdensome regulation, not free trade.

Secondly, this bill doesn’t give Obama the authority to act on anything except to NEGOTIATE the deal. Once negotiated, it goes in front of Congress and then they can vote on it to ratify. If the GOP votes for a shoddy deal, then you have the right to go bananas, but that has not happened yet. I don’t blame Cruz one bit for wanting

Third, if you truly swallow and believe the protectionist garbage that the union scum like AFL-CIO spew repeatedly (You are on a hell of a team!), and it makes you so angry that you won’t vote for Cruz, then you might as well not vote for anybody this election because clearly nobody is going to fit your rigid requirements to be President. For the rest of your life you can bloviate on an internet message forum about how all the candidates suck. That’ll be a real productive use of your energy in this world.

IMO, people who support protectionism are no different than the McDonald’s worker who wants $15/hour to flip hamburgers. Whether you want to admit it or not, you are all cut from the same cloth.

From Bill S 995:
SEC. 8. SOVEREIGNTY.

(a) United States Law To Prevail in Event of Conflict- No provision of any trade agreement entered into under section 3(b), nor the application of any such provision to any person or circumstance, that is inconsistent with any law of the United States, any State of the United States, or any locality of the United States shall have effect.

(b) Amendments or Modifications of United States Law- No provision of any trade agreement entered into under section 3(b) shall prevent the United States, any State of the United States, or any locality of the United States from amending or modifying any law of the United States, that State, or that locality (as the case may be).

(c) Dispute Settlement Reports- Reports, including findings and recommendations, issued by dispute settlement panels convened pursuant to any trade agreement entered into under section 3(b) shall have no binding effect on the law of the United States, the Government of the United States, or the law or government of any State or locality of the United States.

With this group you have to wonder if the phrase...(b) Amendments or Modifications of United States Law means the same as United States Constitution and those Laws, the law of the land. Any legal Freepers out there?

First, free trade has been a conservative policy for the better part of half-a-century.

I support free trade and proper oversight.

But, I would like to know how you know what is in the bill as it's contents were kept SECRET?

Are you going on reports, do you have leak from the Senate?

If we are going to be fair, let's be sure we actually know what it in it.

If there is disinformation to make the bill look bad, I can imagine there is disinformation to make it look good also.

I just want to make sure you are not spreading disinformation in the other direction.

If you have been here for 10 years, you have learned nothing.
Perot is despised by most members of FR.
What we are opposed to is backroom deals and collusion which never fixes anything but who’s only result is to keep the powerful in power.

If you are here to promote the GOP leadership, you will not be here long.

"The Republicans are in danger of losing the Senate. That will be a hell of a situation when we have a chance of winning the White House.",

And the House too IMHO. I want to hear from some of our fellow FR'ers giving Glenn Beck a rash as to his support of Matt Bevin, Bill Bennett has some splayin' to do too. Mitch is a bleeping disaster, ditto that Boenher, they keep this up they thought a ton of us stayed home in 12? They ain't seen nothing yet.

"Apparently 90% of this forum were Perot voters who bought into his horse-s***,"

Seriously? Go by a replacement faucet seat for your sink or the whole facet assembly @ one of the box stores, ditto that any mayor appliance. Where is most of this crap made? Ask one of the helpers in said box store off the record when you ask them can I buy something made in America because what you sold me has no decent tolerance stack ups and it won't fit what I got installed now. They will tell you off the record it call comes from ***** and their is nothing we can do about it. Don't even get me started on car parts or 4130 Chrome Moly Tubing...

Reagan was not for interdependency.

Countries need to be in control of their own business, then they can link up.

These Detente trade deal pretend that free trade interdepencies (forbidding divorce and indepence from swing nations) will somehow gain us in control of our finances and prosperity, when we know the mail order Chinese bride can have land in America, but Amerians cannot hold land in China and enforce that.

It is a communist Trojan Horse for money money money idiots.

1. I’ve read dozens and dozens of people who agree with Perot’s position on protectionism.

2. What has been released about this bill says that the President cannot make any trade agreement without congress ratifying it. All he gets to do is negotiate it. As much as I despise Obama, I see no reason why he shouldn’t be allowed to negotiate free trade agreements. They still need to be ratified by Congress. If they are crappy deals, and Ted Cruz votes for it, then he deserves heat. He shouldn’t deserve heat to give the President authority that I believe the President should have. I would certainly want him to have authority to negotiate if Cruz every becomes president.

3. I am about as anti-establishment as it gets, but I do strongly support free trade over protectionism. Protectionism has a long track record of failure in this world. I’m am firmly in Ted Cruz’s corner this cycle as he is clearly the most intelligent, quick-witted candidate that has run for the Republican nomination since Reagan.

“It still has to be ratified”

*****

Nope. If the Senate isn’t bought and paid for, Obama will simply treat the deal as an executive agreement for the remainder of his term(s). Either the Dems steal the presidential election against a conservative Republican or win it against a GOPe quisling (like Jeb Bush) and it is game, set, and match without a further vote by the Senate.

WTF is wrong with these guys?! Are they under some form of mind control technology that we aren’t aware of or is the amount in the stuffed envelopes really that high?

Damn I get so tired of seeing them sell us out.

“What has been released about this bill says that the President cannot make any trade agreement without congress ratifying it.”

And therein lies the problem...”what has been released”. If the TPP is soooooooooo good for us, then why the secrecy? Sort of like we “have to pass it to know what’s in it”....where have we heard that before?

This stinks to high heaven and those Senators who voted to allow “fast track” status are setting up the Congress to be thrown on the scrap heap of history. This is just wrong on so many levels. Especially with this present administration, though I don’t know if there is any difference any longer, legislation and trade agreements should not be done in “secrecy”! Raises a huge red flag.
